What a great exercise Karen, well done.

I often check ww & c as they are both at gc.

I came in at $112, so $12 over. Not fussed as its still low, plus we have one of ur regular foster boys with us this weekend, so it means more milk & a few treats. We are having foster kids for the next  4-5 weeks, then a break for a while, (hopefully). So anything between $100-$115 is fine by me.

Yes we all know what you mean astarra.  You take some meat out of the freezer, cook it then freeze half which means the space you made is taken up again and usually it's a bigger pack too  ;D  Then you see meat which is too good a bargain to walk past and although you don't need it, you have to buy it because you hate paying full price for meat.  I try really hard but never seem to get anywhere so guess I just have to learn to live with it.

I have never cooked it, but used to eat  it in restauarants n the UK, normally in a casserole style meal.

Google venison casserole or venison in sauce.

Love venison. You will find lots of recipes on the web even Thermothingy ones like this.

There is one in the Devil of a Cookbook which I got rid of but someone might have it.

Not to mention venison pie.

Yummmmmmmmm - venison.  :)
Last venison roast I cooked I did in an oven bag with 1/2 can of coke, a chopped onion, some mixed herbs and some water, and roasted the same as a beef roast - the result was a delicious tender meat with yum gravy (made from the meat juices) - the funny thing was I dished it up to some friends who called in so we invited them to stay for dinner, they were raving about the meat then asked what it was. DH said "do you like venison?" The answer was "no, but that is not venison, it is too nice."  ;D We left it at that!  ;)

I think I spent your leftover funds on mine JD!  ;)

Over budget again  :-\
Still, $140 I am pretty happy with. Stocked up on oil and lots of baking supplies and meat as I had run the freezer pretty low.

I've managed to stay within budget the last 2 weeks, despite spending nearly $40 on meat today! Definitely easier now kids have gone back to school. Need to go to Costco soon - that could really blow the budget!

Your all doing so well.. We are like Karen was and just buy what we need.. Will try to be better once we have to stock up our pantry and get our own place.. Advantage is this time around I can make all the sauces, condiments etc and not buy them... Start from scratch!
