Yes jen I have been until today.

I ordered 2x 3 litres of milk in the hope it would last us until 4th. The use by date is 1st, I have emailed them letting them know I am not happy, so will see what they say.

Nice to have everything delivered to our holiday unit.  I was even happy to pay the delivery fee, its hot, lots of flies & town is sooo busy.

We now remember why we havent been down here for 8 years, the flies!!!!

Chookie, yes must get back on budget :)

I've just tallied up my yearly average - $100.81 per week.  I'm very happy with that as things have gone up so much in the past year and this amount includes absolutely everything needed for the fridge, freezer, bathroom and laundry.

Hally milk often goes longer than the date. You will know if it has gone off!

Living out of freezer etc, hope to not shop much at all only milk and veg later in week. DH away from next Monday for a week so I can live very very cheaply.

So much good stuff on this forum  ;D

Well, managed to do pretty well this week - $136 incl everything (a few extras for new years - just having a couple of people round).
I'd still like to get it down to around $120 though. Getting closer.

In winter, yes. In summer in Australia, not so much. Sometimes it even turns before the expiry if it hasn't been handled well by the supermarkets.

Haven't spent anything this week - living on leftovers.  Going to get a pile of cherries and berries from the Yarra Valley this weekend and stock up the freezer so saving up to do that.  Found a place the week before Christmas out there and they said they don't spray their fruit either!!!! was so pleased so will buy there and not be buying from supermarket (which is mostly overseas sourced berries anyway).  My second freezer is looking so full.... will have to clean out my first one I think.

Halex, good to hear none of your milk got a chance to go bad anyway - I totally agree that it's fair enough to have got a credit.  I grocery shop online and I think they can be a bit cheeky and give short-dated goods.  Not usually a problem as we seem to get through it all  ;) but if I was selecting it myself, I'd choose something with more time.

Oh, and another random thought - you can freeze milk if you have too much to get through...if you have freezer space, which I never do!

I've noticed lately I've been shopping a little more than weekly (5-6 days), so that's no good for the budget...  Hoping now that the silly season is over we can get back to "normal" and start bringing it down more.
