You folk amaze me with your computer knowledge. I went out and bought a netbook today and I HOPE to use it for my emails and perhaps log onto the forum when we are travelling. BUT I am going to need heaps of DD help first.

Now you have got everything you want for travelling Cookie1 - TMX & computer.  It is hard to go away and leave them behind and there is so much to catch up on when you get back.

That's exactly what I thought. Now all I have to do is learn to work it. I can't do anything until I buy some virus software for it. Then the gadget for the broadband and off I go. (i hope)

Cookie,  you know by now how hopeless I am with the computer,  however when we travel we take my macbook with us.    We also take our Telstra modum.   We did buy a $100 Optus modum  that was only moderately successful.   We find that by walking around the Hotel/motel room we can usually get a signal.   It may not be as strong as the one at home but it is ok..  Hope this is of some help.

Thanks Chookie.All help gratefully received. I'm going to buy one of those next G things that go in a USB port. I think I'll buy a prepaid one as I will only  use it when we're away. I can bum DD's computer at home. I don't think I'll be permitted to sit checking the forum too often, so it will be quick looks and emails mainly.

Still fighting to get my laptop back - either new or repaired  - I am technologically challenged - they say I'll be able to add all the info myself from my old computer !!!!  Doubt it.

Thermomixer - try to get them to transfer what ever they can - unless your old laptop is still operating then life would be much easier!

Ta - looks like programs are there - but when you go to use them they say there's not a registered copy - so I have been putting lots of discs in to load programs again !!!!

Sort of - I am surviving but some of the programs won't work on Windows 7 !!  Hope it is working out for you too.

Mostly worked out Thermomixer, just a few little issues still to be ironed out here and there.
