Keeping track of your recipes
« on: August 26, 2010, 05:20:58 am »
There was some talk some time ago about recipe software etc, I have used Mastercook for years and love it ... but as an only 6mth vetran of thermomix cooking I needed another quicker way to grab recipes from the forum/internet to try before I decided if the recipe will make it to the family favorites.
I came across Evernote http://www.evernote.com/, this is a free piece of software ( there is also a paid version ) it is works almost identical to Microsoft Onenote ( that I don't have ). When I find a recipe to try I highlight it, right click and add to evernote and it goes straight to the software, you can have as many notebooks as you like...the software syncronises to "somewhere"  ??? so that it can be available anywhere for you...online...on your iphone...laptop etc. I can use the online version at work  to save recipes to it ( found during my lunch hour of course ! ) then have it all there on my laptop at home to which I have the full free program loaded on.
The best part is the you can tag your recipes to make them easy to find and the search feature is fantastic.... meaning you don't have to remember the actual name of the recipe (ie: search isi's ) once I have tried them and made any changes I need to them I can easily find all the recipes I have tagged that I like, transfer them to my recipe softwear where I can use them in my menu planning.
I have about 120 recipes sitting in there, some I have tried, most want to try...its so quick and easy. I also keep a other notebooks in the software for ideas like gifts/links etc....helps me keep track of things without notepaper and eases having to try and remember everything.

That sounds good Deeau. Thanks.
