Sounds like fun Amanda, you must let us know what you bought.

I never thought to try pepper on them Andie.

Yikes, that would be too hot for me Hally - I use that very sparingly.

I have one of those chip makers too (courtesy of this darned shopping thread...I just had to have one. Nothing like keeping up with the Jonses  - shopping thread - is there ?) - tried it the other day and we decided the chips were too "starchy" ?? Anyone have suggestions on which potatoes would be better to use? My spuds were quite wet when I cut them, so had to dry them on paper towel. I think this might be a job for the kids!
Rosemary salt was good on the ones I made.

I put cayenne pepper in cheese straws for the kids, they love it, but only a little bit :)

I am thinking seriously Yvette. ;D

My fridge is dead, played up just before christmas,
took them 3 weeks to answer the call at the off shore call centre.
took them another 10 days to look at it,  (service agent)
they forgot to order he part for me, under warranty. 1 week later it is ordered.
now part will be here today, but no one will fix till next wednesday, as they won't drive 15 minutes.

I have called whirlpool about 8 times, frustrating.

guess whos mum wont buy whirlpool again.

I. Am. Not. Buying. A. Chip. Maker..... For now.

Last night I bought a pressure cooker so I went shopping for some books and couldn't find the ones I wanted for the price I wanted to pay so just bought the Suzanne Gibbs one and the AWW one for $31.57 online.

During my travels this morning I also found "What's for Dinner?" and somehow it made it home with me.

Went to DFO and bought DD some Clarks shoes for $19.95! And I did not go into any kitchen shop (although I may have stood in the window for a bit...)

Great shopping day  :)

nikkit, as I slice the potatoes I lay them on paper towel.  Top with another piece of towel, pat it down, add more potatoes to the next layer, more towel - get the picture?  It soaks up all the moisture and mine crisped up beautifully with the right timing for my particular 1200 watt microwave.  I just used plain white potatoes, nothing special.  If they are starchy perhaps they need another 30 seconds or so, experiment until you get what you like.
