News about Thermomix / Re: New Model Thermomix, truth or rumour?

Leesmac,  in your avatar you appear to have 2 TMXs already. Is this your third one? I loved reading your detailed description of your encounter with TM5 BTW.

I must change that avatar actually.  It was a period of a a few weeks when we had two, due to a repair of my own and a loan of one from my group leader.  Hopefully Ed doesn't eBay the old one too quickly so we will once again have two, it really is handy.  In fact we did contemplate purchasing a second hand tm31 or tm21 as an extra but somehow that idea fell away.

My dear Ed below, a man of a few words!  Unlike me.... :) He is secretly excited in a professorly kind of way. In contrast to me, well I can hardly sleep with excitement. :)

Hi all, I just posted my thoughts on TM5 on the discussion page. Don't know how to put a link in though.  Sufficed to say I bought it and I cannot wait to have it. Now I can say "I am expecting" again.

Hi everyone,
I have just been to a meeting at my group leaders home this evening.  Evidently the launch last Friday at 2000 in Frankfurt which was the global release and was a tremendous success.  Wish I was there too but I am not special enough evidently! :) There were 2500 demonstrators out of 9000 in total present at the event.  Frankfurt was chosen due to its central location, airport and availability if hotel rooms.

We got the opportunity to test it out, love the colours and new the sounds it makes when it finishes cooking, no more Yukky beeping sounds.  It is far more melodic.  It is considerably larger in capacity, both in varoma and bowl too.  I like the automated lid and the way you can place the lid on quickly from any direction. I also like the flashing green that turns red when it gets hot.

Time to reason with you all, as this forum is a place of honesty.  There is absolutely no need to upgrade whatsoever.  If you are happy with TM31, keep it.  The only problem really is for the poor demonstrators who have to re train and buy a whole new machine.  We cannot purchase the old one anymore, I expect they are trying to flog them off to other countries but as it is a German machine, they like to stay current.  It is hard to buy anything old here, as soon as the latest model comes out, people do tend to upgrade.

Cleverly, I brought Ed (DH) along too.  He even arrived before I did.  I walked in the door and he had already decided that we simply had to have it.  I am fortunate to have studied psychology and had a strategy in mind to ensure success.  There were lots of husbands there who were captivated by the new technology too.   So it is purchased and I cannot wait.  We cannot officially buy until Friday but my order is in.  €1109 which is around 1500$. Germany do have a wonderful payment plan too with a teeny, tiny interest rate.  Over 12 months, the interest is barely €50.  I am saddened by the enormous interests rates charged in Australia.

I should have it in the next week or so.  I promise to keep you all posted for the upcoming of my new baby Thermie!!!

Oh thank you so much - it is lovely to be remembered by you all.

I am still in Königstein, 20 km north west of Frankfurt in the Taunus mountains.  Summer is coming to a close but we managed to tour two friends from Melbourne this afternoon to a winery along the Rhein River and get a touch of sun on our faces.  Preparing for the long winter, I will be in Melbourne (now to buy "chips") and to see friends and family again.

Poor Ed, long suffering Ed is coming along to our group leader's  house tomorrow.  Doesn't really know what he is in for but I am sure he is convinced that I will have a pen in my pocket and a frightening financial transaction will take place.

I really do need to do a bit more research on Thermie II before I shell out the $1533 Australian dollars for him/her. However I am excited about the larger varoma, as I could do with a larger one.  I find I still use a separate electric steamer for larger quantities.  I still marvel at you all being able to cook for large families in something that is a little pokey.

I have not been disappointed once since I purchased my darling Themie.  We have been through a lot together and have shared many fabulous occasions together.  Thermie even recuperated in my bed once, some of you may recall! Alas, I am sure he/she will find a new home and be enjoyed once more.  Probably she will end up as a gift to my sister in law when she comes to visit from Adelaide in two weeks.  She has a family. And is desperate for one, and a used Themie is certainly better than no Thermie.

Introduce Yourself / Re-introduction

Good morning all.  Leesmac78 or Lee from Frankfurt, Germany here.  I disappeared off the face of the earth about three years ago and must admit, and have only recently rediscovered this forum. Blame a ridiculous workload and studying to "the mix", if you pardon the pun!   I have had Thermie for three years now and love it so, so much and encourage all of you who may be considering this purchase to DO IT!!!!  I am also a former demonstrator (no time now) and I am particularly good at providing strategies on how to get your DH (or respective partner) to make the decision themselves to purchase a Thermomix, even if they have moaned and complained and stated out loud that it is a waste of money and too expensive.

I am back with a vengeance as I am off to meet TM 5 tomorrow.  I am just SO excited. It feels a bit like when I first bought my Pomeranians at the breeder.  Tomorrow I can look.  Wednesday, I can fill out the paper work and on Friday, I can buy!  I am not sure though when I can bring TM 5 home though, all will be revealed tomorrow.

My strategy on the upgrade was as follows (not for the faint hearted):
- see the pretty new TM 5 on the website
- watch the YouTube videos in bed and talk about it when DH is pretty much asleep
- contact my demonstrator and arrange the purchase and coordinate "the plan"
- arrange to attend the demo tomorrow night

It can't be that easy, can it?

I guess I should have TM 5 within 2 weeks.  Just a bit worried that my recipe chips will all be in German so I will have to arrange to purchase some when I am in Melbourne next month.

Fingers crossed for me everyone and I will keep you posted as to the progress.

Happy Thermomixing!

Lee :)

Thank you so much everyone.  A nice little Christmas bonus I must say.  But far more importantly, we fly to Australia in four more sleeps or four and a half more work days and we cannot wait.

Love to all,

Hi Darlings,

I made my first sale today.  So funny.  I was walking through the car park at school and a parent called me over.

"I would like to buy a Thermomix, can you help me?"

"Sure, have you seen one in action?"

"Yes, can I have it before Christmas?"

"Absolutely!"

"Great, I'll stop buy tomorrow at your office and sign the form"

"Lovely"

And that is it.  I think demos have whiskers on them after today's success. Only joking, but strange things really happen to really strange people! I might move my office into a tent in the car park, except that it is 1° outside and snow is coming very soon.

You would think.  I am dreading if someone wants to buy a machine because once I have the order form, then what?? Smoke signals to head office?? I never asked that bit.  What a disastrous thermomix consultant I will be!!!

Chit Chat / Missing You

Hi everyone,

Coming up to the winter holidays here in Germany, I have been so busy lately and have not been visiting you all.

Just wanted to let you know that Ed and I (yes, both us) had our first Thermomix party tonight.  It was delightful.  All went is according to my crazy planning and I cooked and demonstrated far too much.  Everyone (all English ladies thankfully) ate the food and oohed and ahhhed in all the gright places.  Sadly, I did not receive an order tonight but I am positive that I will receive one in the near future. And if I don't, I had a lovely time showing my Thermodarling to everyone. Fortunately, this party was a delightful chance to meet some great news people who are just like us, permanent expats living in Frankfurt. So I might even make some new friends instead, which is even better.

So, if you do own a Thermomix and fancy a little bit of an excuse to cook with it even more than you do already, become a demonstrator, it's loads of fun!
