Chit Chat / Help please :)
« on: March 17, 2014, 09:58:01 pm »
Hi Everyone, I know I don't get here very often now but am wondering if you could help me out with some voting for my little Joey Scout Group.  We have 24 (up to 28) little 6-8 year olds that Possum and I (Bilby) love to work with each week and have some great plans for this money should we manage to win. Thanks  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Can you please click through on the link and vote for

Special Diets / Re: Fermented Foods
« on: March 02, 2014, 11:08:56 pm »
I've been looking at fermented foods too. So far, have only done sauerkraut. I'm very keen to try kombucha, but have to get hold of a SCOBY from somewhere.
Not keen on milk kefir, but apparently water kefir is nice.

Water Kefir with coconut water is great ... my kids love it (in fact I think they are addicted to it :o :o

Sun dried tomato, capsicum and cashew dip - my favourite  :D :D

I then use up what we don't eat by flattening out some chicken breast spreading on the dip, rolling them up and steaming in the varoma  ;)

OH MY GOODNESS!! I feel a bit special  :D :D especially since all I do is pop in and out these days. I can say though that I will be doing some reviews of this book as DH and I intend to put it to good use making our weekend lunches considering the kids generally only want something quick and boring like sandwiches or crackers!!

Thanks JD for your had work organising everything, HO for the prizes, MM for the draw and congratulations to the other winners  :-* :-* :-*

Kerrryn I just steam it in the basket Varoma term and speed 3-4 (depending on how full the basket is) for 15 - 25 mins depending on the size of the breast and how many I have jammed in there. When done, take out the basket, tip out the water, tip the chicken into the bowl and process on speed 4 and REVERSE for a couple of seconds  :)

Made this tonight and added 4 smallish carrots, corn and a little caramelised onion as well as using spelt pasta so I could also eat it. Everyone loved it and hubby declared it good enough to be a regular. Very easy, yummy and a recipe that I would generally have everything on hand.

Have cooked a couple of recipes from this book now and all of them have been a success  :)

I have a bosh and have been impressed with it. You need to go for the expensive Bosh that is made in Germany though and not the cheaper ones. I only wish that I had spent the extra couple of hundred and got one with the cutlery drawer  :-\ :-\

Good luck Astarra it is one of the hardest choices to make as there are so many to choose from and also the price range is huge  :-)) :-))

Recipe Requests / Re: Which recipes from the EDC??
« on: January 26, 2014, 01:18:02 am »
Jen, Chelsea's strog on here is a better recipe  :) it's a combination of both mine and her recipe and is the one I make all the time now :)

I always make the pizza dough from the EDC as it has always worked for us (I do use the milk option though) I think it is a personal preference. I know there are some here that others swear by that I must get around to trying!

DJ they are lovely, you will enjoy them when you finally get them out to use  :)  I'm a bit ruthless with my mugs and throw them as soon as they have a chip in them so end up with a draw full of mismatched mugs ... perfectly fine for the teenagers (have to stop saying that as the younger of the *teens* is no longer a teen this year  :o :o :o :o) to store in their rooms until they decide it is dishes time ... I now have a secret stash of nice matching mugs for my visitors  ;D ;D
