Introduce Yourself / Re: Soon to be TMX owner in Brisbane
« on: September 21, 2009, 02:15:30 am »
Hi Sharon, We are all thermomix nutters here and I have yet to see a silly question. We may do some silly things at times but what fun we have talking about our risks and failures and,of course, our wins with this magical machine. Enjoy and don't be afraid to share.

Spice Mixes / Re: Vanilla Extract - from Shayla
« on: September 20, 2009, 10:53:51 pm »
Never thougt to make my own vanilla extract. Next to my TMX I love my distillary and make my own white spirit so I could make the vanilla extract with just about any flavour around. Ummmmm. Thinking now.  About the only thing I don't make is Scotch  Whiskey as I cannot seem to get the flavour just right even though I have tried every process.

Tips and Tricks / Re: Hand rolled pasta
« on: September 20, 2009, 10:45:03 pm »
I believe hand rolling is easier than rolling in my "you beaut" very expensive Italian machine. You really need four hands for that thing. I have just lent it to my TMX  consultant for her to have a go. If I don't get it back I won't care much. Resting the dough is very important plus use lots of flour dusting as you work  it. I love homemade pasta apart from it's taste as it cooks so quickly, looks homemade, and you can add interesting things to it.

I am so pleased for you Wonder. The sweats should stop soon. LOL!  And oh yes Judy my DH did put it together twice and when I lifted the jug the bottom was not attached at all. DH did not see that he had done anything wrong. Then he left the seal off. Now he is not touching it at all.  Just a well.  Brazen there is a world of difference between a smart 3 year old and an 80 year old ;D :-)) :D.

Hi Meagan. I have joined the Italian forum  and use the google tool bar to translate. The have a lot of discussion over gelato. Here is one.  http://bimby.mastertopforum.com/gelato-alla-cannella-tm31-vt18178.html?highlight=gelato+cannella. If if doesn't come through just go to the home page   http://bimby.matertopforum.com and work it from there. I choose to always translate Italian to save time.  You can do the same with the German forum http://rezeptwelt.de. Choose to always translate German from the google toolbar.

I had trouble joining the Italian one but wrote to the master moderator who signed me in using a sign in name and 12345 as a password.

There is a wealth of info out there if you have the time and patience.

Good luck,
Gretchen

Sorry Thermomixer. Maybe we are bimbettes Judy!

I am sure there is an artist on this forum somewhere who would draw that cartoon.  We could have a contest to see who would write the best "balloon" for it .  I'm gunna write a codicle to my living will making sure I can take mine with me. My children better choose the right nursing home!

Now why didn't I think about the butterfly Judy. Great idea. My party tricks depend on how much wine I have used in the cooking.. You know the old saying " I love to cook with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food"
