Recently had a conversation about cocktail franks vs little boys at work. It was mainly the Western Australians that understood the term little boys. Naturally this led on to discussion about polony vs devon, deli vs corner shop and bathers vs swimmers.

In SA, I know the term 'little boys', polony/devon is known as fritz here, deli v corner shop, well we seem to be losing all our corner shops but both words could be used here, and it's bathers for me.

I dared to say swimmers, rather than bathers around my Mum a couple of years ago.  Mum (who doesn't even live in WA anymore) told me in no uncertain terms that I am Western Australian and will therefore call them bathers. That was the end of that.  And now, of course, I make sure I always call them swimmers  ;D

We called them swimming costumes in Scotland too Hally.
Now I call them bathers as that's what all the kids say.
Polony here and deli but in Scotland it was corner shop.  :)

Cossies or Togs.

We had a brunch of left overs - cottage cheese pattie and egg on bubble and squeak.
