Ooh,  what project? It's cold and wet here, washing is inside yet again. Of course that is a great excuse to run the heater :)

KS, the cinnamon crumble cake sounds yummy - is it a recipe from the forum or blog?
Thermobexta blog Mich :)

Stocking up on basics today, the things I need for this week's meal plan. So condensed milk, tomato paste, a few spice blends, lemon curd and homemade ricotta.
Also just pulled Thermobexta's cinnamon crumble cake with the apple variation out of the oven. House smells awesome. Putting on a whole chook for dinner and lunch meat on now and putting my feet up.

Made ricotta, Helenes method.  Seeing how it acts with Lemon Garlic Baked Ricotta. Having visitors for afternoon tea.  No doubt DD will eat what is left over!!

Interested to hear how the baked ricotta went Chookie :)

Introduce Yourself / Re: Introduction of a male non-cook 8?)

Welcome, you have found a great place to lurk, everyone is full of info.

I got my TM5 because my son has ADHD and I am GF and I was struggling to shop within our budget and find time to cook, while still feeding everyone the food they needed. It's so fast and easy to make things from scratch now that cover all our bases and my grocery bill has halved. It's definitely helped us health wise

Cookie we use an electric heat gun with the element removed but would love to source traditional style bellows :)

Mainly custom knives Katj, but he has tried his hand at all sorts. He has made a lot of his tools himself as they are hard to source and expensive in Australia.

Tongs in production.

We do the leather work for the sheaths and all the woodwork ourselves as well.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Yoghurt making
« on: June 29, 2015, 11:55:43 am »
I have found even a brand change in my ingredients can make my yoghurt fail to set properly.
If cleaning the bowl and using a new starter don't work, heat could be a factor. The easiyo loses heat quickly in cold weather, I wrap mine in a towel to add insulation in winter.

An absolute pain Mich. It was also taking a long time to load once I was on. I gave up for a while and it seems fine now.

A regular occurrence in my freezer Mab, it's always entertaining to find out what I cooked haha.
I'm home alone so single serve pizza night. I keep a stash of pre made bases in the freezer along with all the fixings :)

I used to quilt alot but the time factor gets in the way, there are so many things I want to learn and do! I'm teaching Mr 7 to knit and he can darn his socks thanks to DH. There are so many skills that have gotten lost in the last 50 or so years. DH runs a charcoal forge in our backyard, so I have even tried my hand at blacksmithing haha
I picked up some books on crochet at the library today, I'm hoping to teach myself to follow a pattern next :)
