I use 380g of Arborio rice when making risotto and it very rarely spits or causes the MC to flip over.  Leaking hot liquid in my experience is a sign that the seal may need to be released.  Perhaps I misinterpreted your original scenario but if you've had your TMX three years and used it regularly I would check with your consultant about replacing the lid seal as a matter of course anyway.  Do go back and read your TMX manual about this issue.  It is very often helpful in situations where troubleshooting is required.
In the book which comes with the TM in the UK basmati rice is quoted at 400gm plus 500ml water, only spurts out if the speed is set a little too low.  It is worth looking in the book to see what it suggests. After a while veteran user forgets to look.

As I say this happened to me and the blade unit was replaced by TM.

f you feel naked then you could alaway hide behind the three parts of the varoma ;)!

I am assuming that you are cooking the rice in the basket.... if so dont over fill the jug with water. It should just touch the bottom of the basket, then run the blades for a few seconds before starting to cook as this rinses the rice. Set to cook and if the water bubbles up turn the speed up a little until it just stays within the jug, perfect rice every time.  It also says in fast and easy  that the MC should be put at an angle open end up, no idea why this is needed but thats what it says.  Good luck.

It says in fast and easy that when cooking rice if it starts to boil over increase the speed slightly, this works for me!

Camping again this year in France and took the TM of course.  Used everyday. made our own crepes, pizza dough, bread, steamed veg, sauces, marinades for the bbq. Even made some red currant jam as there were loads growing around all of the pitches!

Being a techy type person I have worked out that it takes 7 mins from cold to reach varoma temperature. If that helps. However of course it depends on how much liquid and what the starting temperature is.

23
Yes sometimes this happens, just either slow down or speed up and it will go!

Ok I can tell you exactly how this happened (I Think!)  It happened on mine a while ago and was caused by either child or elderly mother (neither ever owned up!) lifting the jug when very full and heavy and not realising how heavy it was, then knocking the bottom edge of the jug on the plastic panel! I hope that might help solve the mystery.

Suggestions and Complaints / Re: Scales Grrrr!

What I would like to know ia why they are so inaccurate in such an expensive machine? They should be bang on and if they are not TM should be looking at why and then sorting this out. Sorry but I would not be very happy if mine were out even by 1g  given that you can by digital scales for £5 and they are spot on every time!

Chit Chat / Re: Vacuum Sealing for freezing, cooking and refridgeration

Used mine the on new years eve as I deliberately went to the super market half an hour before they closed to get meat bargains. 8kg gammon joint on the bone for £5!  Home, butchered and vac packed ready for smoking later in the year.
Vac packed blanched sprouts at £1 for 10kg  why waste a bargain?  vac packer pays for itself over and over.
This year going to try cooking sous vide..........
