Today i used up a pork scotch fillet from the freezer and made it into Tenina's Slow Cooked Pork Chilli (FFS), which we'll have tomorrow or Saturday.

While that was cooking I made a vegetable soup in my PC.  It's loaded with veg and I used my veg stock conc with water as the base stock.

The veg were cooked perfectly and I couldn't help but have a small bowl served with a dollop of basil pesto as a taste test.

I've made this especially for my DH who adores soup especially before going on night shift.    :D

Bee Sting Buns.  posted.

CP,  that is a good idea.  When i am having a bread class,  I measure most ingredients out the day before,  and then put each recipe into a separate bowl.  make it a lot easier and we can get through more recipes.

CP I love the idea. I pre prepare cake mix and biscuit mix when we go away but I hadn't thought to extend it to food.
Today I've done all the shopping and made the swedish icecream cake, now cooking some quinces to make coulis to put on it, and have hot cross buns ready for the oven. I also popped up to Dan Murphy's as my booze supply was non existant. I was really shocked. There are people walking out of there with hundreds of dollars of spirits and beer. My 6 bottles of wine looked very sad. Most purchases were round $400-$500. There must be a lot of a) rich people b) heavy drinkers.

Off the soap box. :D

Yes Twitterpated, Katie told me it was a bit too much honey so I adjusted the sauce ingredients to 2/3 cup honey, 1/3 cup soy, 1 dessertspoon toasted sesame oil, leaving the other ingredients as per the recipe but using a teaspoon of garlic paste instead of a pinch of garlic powder.  I used 8 chicken thighs but a pile of chicken legs would also work well (skinless).  I added some vegies towards the end and turned it up high, probably overcooked them a tad but it made a complete meal then served over a decent bowl of steamed rice.  I still think there was too much honey and soy so would cut down to 1/3 cup honey and 1/4 cup soy/tamari next time. My 8 thighs looked a little lonely in the bottom of my huge slow cooker, sometimes I wish I had a smaller one when cooking just enough for 4 but this would be a great dish to do for a lot of visitors.

Thanks JD. Always helps to know what others have thought of it and if they varied the recipe at all.

Over the past few days ive made a few of Teninas recipes.
Soft Buttermilk Rolls which were beautifully soft and yummy, Crio Chilli Beef, also delicious, Pecan (Hazelnut) Dacquoise and now I have Croissants in the oven.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Waiting for my hot cross buns to finish their second rise before baking then later I am going to make either a potatoes au gratin with pink salmon in the cheese sauce or cannelloni for tea.
