I often pick this book off my bookshelf to flick through but can never find anything really appealing. I'm also unsure if this one has been tested well which puts me off.

We bought this book when I was working in a fish factory. With the perk of my staff discount, we were hoping we could save money as well as have yummy TM food! But I was in much the same boat as Chelsea. There weren't many inspiring recipes. My Steamed Thai Fish Cakes came out spongy and tasteless, despite the fact that I followed the recipe exactly. I made the Lemon Delicious Sauce (from the recipe for Steamed Trout with Lemon Delicious Sauce), but it was very bitter and not delicious at all. My Bouillabaisse tasted like hot water with a bit of tomato and my seafood came out overcooked, tasteless and chewy.

After these disasters, which have probably been the most unfortunate TM dishes I have cooked in the past couple of years, I am not inspired to get the book out again.

Sorry to give such a gloomy review  :-[

Amy, you can't help but be honest - that's what we expect from reviews.

I tend to agree. I've only  made a couple of things and was not impressed.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I made the prawn dumplings from it on Sunday as I had family over and they were a hit. Everyone absolutely LOVED them.

I am going to try the Chinese steamed fish next week so will let you know how that is.

Thanks,

Charde

The only way I would ever do any seafood in the TMX is by steaming in the Varoma.

My salmon dinner is delicious! I'll post the recipe in the All In One Section soon. I've not bothered with this book as nothing appealed to me when I first bought it.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Am cooking from this book for the first time and have found these recipes crying out to be tried:

Trisha Edwards' Smoked Salmon Roulade p12
Maria Mandfredini's Baby Octopus and Broad Beans with Tomato p26
Mussels with Coconut Milk p27
Tas Scallop and Lemon Myrtle Risorto p72
Spanish Potatoes and Prawns p93

Will review in the next couple of days!

Any comments from people who may have tried these but not contributed reviews?

Yesterday's plan has had to be adjusted due to non- availability of some ingredients.

No watercress so can't do the Roulade.

No baby octopus so that one's out too.

Lemon Myrtle nowhere to be found either - so back to the drawing board for the scallop recipe!

Glad to have tried something from this book for myself.

SO the photos only show the Mussels with Coc Cream and the Spanish Potatoes with Prawns.
