Never heard of these. Are they like a necklace so you can just lift them off? My beads go everywhere, and are too hot to scoop up when you have to pop the base back in the oven to crisp

CP I lift up the baking paper that they are sitting on in the pie case and 'pour' them back into the glass container that I keep them in.  I don't get them spilling anywhere or have to touch them with my fingers either.  I use 2 lots of the beads for filling the case too.  :)

Where can I find reviews for the Beetroot Soup (Borsch)?  The recipe is very confusing as to whether you should add the chopped vegetables at the end or not.  I did, and the result was a very watery soup with vege bits at the bottom??   ???

Would love some help on this one :)

Here's a comment on one beetroot soup but it does mention not having success with borsch  - http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2990.0.  Hopefully someone who has made borsch will give you some feed back  4ge.

My MIL used to make Borscht regularly. Hers was like a vegetable soup with Beetroot added. The Beetroot is put in raw, as are all the other vegetables. Blitz them on speed 4 or so to leave them chunky. She used a lot of potatoes. When it is cooked you can either purée it, or leave it chunky. She often added a small can of baked beans to it as well. Sometimes she even put sliced cabbage into it. She used chicken stock as the base.
Hope this helps. I think the actual recipe for Borscht varies from Russia to Poland to the Ukraine. MIL was from the Ukraine.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Has anyone made the Lemon (or Orange) Cake?  It seems an awful lot of mixing, and mine didn't rise much.  Tastes good though.

Yes, it's a good recipe - easily trasferred to gluten free as well.

I made the Quiche Lorraine tonight. I can't believe I made a quiche including pastry in under an hour!

Overall a great 'starter' recipe that I'll be adapting regularly from now on :)
I've just made the quiche lorraine - mainly because I went out and bought the red necklace! I failed. It was really runny and needed to cook for about twice as long.

Oh No Alexis...so disappointing! I've also found that quiches sometimes need to cook for twice as long....I don't use all the pastry, but I guess it depends on the width and depth of your quiche dish, mine is quite shallow (maybe an inch high).

For those who might be thinking about ordering the NEW EDC...I had a flick through one today. It looks very nice and as though it might last longer than the spiral bound ones but according to the consultants, there are only 4 new recipes (Aussie Meat Pies and Lamingtons were two recipes mentioned) and 4 have been removed (but I'm sorry I don't know what they were). Sorry I didn't ask what the recipes are! And I'm not sure if the recipes are exactly the same or 'tweaked' versions.

Mine is an absolute mess, and many pages stuck together, and lots of my scribbles with amendments!
Think I would like a nice CLEAN copy!
Shame it's not spiral bound, but wipe clean pages a bonus I guess.

I could be crazy, but I can't see a review of the Minestrone soup fromt he old EDC? Would it be on this thread anywhere, or does that mean that no one has reviewed it yet?

 I read elsewhere on the forum (I think it was in the review of the new EDC minestrone soup recipe) that there were some complaints about the old recipe.

does anyone have any tweaks they do of the recipe?! Thanks! :)
