Meatloaf Varoma question - where in the varoma does it go?
« on: June 30, 2010, 09:35:05 am »
Hello fellow thermomixers!

I am making the meatloaf and red sauce recipe and this will be the first time I have used the varoma. My question is: Do I sit the meatloaf in the bottom layer of the varoma or in the second shallower layer?

Thanks in advance!

Me again - I perhaps should say - does the prepared meatloaf go in the bowl or the tray of the Varoma?

thanks!

I haven't done this one cottchick but reading the recipe, it goes in the bowl not the tray.

Hi CottChick

The meatloaf goes in the "bowl" of the varoma, not the "tray".

Hope you enjoy it!

Love to hear a review of this one cottchick as I have never made a meatloaf in my life and wouldn't mind giving it a go.

I hope it turns out okay. If so I will post a photo. I am making it with the mushroom sauce. I've only had the TM for a few weeks and although I am a voracious user of it (how I love it!), so far haven't tackled the Varoma.

I've made the prep for the meatloaf bit once before but got nervous of the varoma and cooked it in the oven. Poor TM form, I know!

Oh I didn't have bacon or prosciutto to wrap it in so am cooking it wrapped in the baking paper I rolled it in, so it might not be as pretty as others I have seen.

Hi Cottchick

I've made this a few times - I don't always bother to roll it in bacon and it still comes out OK - I've tried the tomato sauce with it and kids love it - a very 'forgiving' recipe and I think you could do just about any sauce you liked in the thermomix bowl as long as there is enough liquid content to allow for the steaming.

Enjoy!

It was perfect. Gosh I love my thermomix! The only flaw was I put a bit too much vege stock in the mushroom sauce and it was a tad too salty. otherwise very happy. I will definitely be doing this one again and again.

Thanks again for all the advice. This is a great forum - I don't post much but read loads and soak up the wisdom here  :)

Glad you enjoyed it cottchick.  I'm sure you will post more as you do more - you will be so proud of your efforts you will want to come on here and tell us about them. We love to read recipe reviews, it encourages others to try something they may not have even considered.

Good to hear that it all turned out. I haven't made meatloaf in the Varoma yet, so will try it soon.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.
