So after spending a fair bit of time reading over old posts whilst unable to sleep last night. I read some mentioning our get togethers.
I think we should set a day/date for one before the crazy Christmas (shock horror) starts ;D :o 8)
My vote is for a morning, Monday, Wednesday or Friday. With Friday being a child free day for me.
What do you Perthies think? MJ are you planning on coming up any time soon?

Oooh! I need an excuse to come to Perth. {off to check my diary...} I'm coming to Perth on Friday 8th as I'm going to West Side Story on the Saturday. May try to come Thursday, so Fri morning would suit me.

Sorry everyone I have been sick and then away for a few days. I guess we are looking at another date now 8) so do we agree Fridays work? Let's set a date for a few weeks away and work with that. How about October 29th in the morning South Perth foreshore. We can meet where there is a little park that is fenced for people with kiddies. There is one not far from canning high way that has parking right up to the river it is where a Mr Whippy van usually is. I will find out the name of it and post it here.

I can do Friday mornings but will need to leave in time for DD to go to school at 12.30pm :) so would only be there for a short while unless DH is home and leave DD with him to take to school ;) ;)

I also forgot to say in the last post we are all nice people really open to newbies coming along. We just eat, chat and talk Thermomix, share any food we might have made and we usually bring books so people can look at them. I should have a copy of the new calendar by then for you to look at too.
As a side note If you want to get your hands on a book or mat etc just pm myself or Faffa or any of the other Perth consultants who are coming along.
Please let us know if you plan to come so we can look out for you and bring either a chair or a blanket to sit on :) I will wear my Thermomix name badge. You can probably get an idea of what I look like from my avatar.
Hope to see lots of people there.

It would be really lovely if we could meet some of our new forum members. All our previous catch ups have been fun. We range in ages from oldies (me) to gorgeous young Mums. (all the others)
There is no need to feel shy at all as we manage to talk thermomix and it is a universal language.

Otherwise you can do deposit into my bank account prior to Friday. Also please don't get the wrong impression about buying books etc I am happy to sell them but that is not the main reason for catching up it is more about sharing thoughts and ideas about the TMX ;)

I would love to meet you all and talk all things Thermomix.....but as my 13 month old DS is very 'active', I'm not sure how much conversation I'd be able to contribute to (would be chasing him all over the park!!). I'll see how he seems on the day, but I may have to wait until you have another catchup :)

i think i read back a few lines that there was an enclosed play area for kids, so why not just come along anyway. he'll enjoy just being in the park (and there might be a few other kids for him to look at), and you can keep your eye on him whilst you have a chat. if all fails bring along a piece of rope and tie him to the stroller :o

LOL the rope sounds like a VERY good idea CreamPuff63, but he'd probably pull the pram away with him ;D Actually I already have some reigns ready to go for when he is walking full time (ATM he moves too fast crawling so doesn't bother walking all the time!!) He is SO different from my two other children (gorgeous, but very full on). I will try to come along, even if for a short time, as you said Cookie1.

My accountant is mucking me around at the moment and has had to change our appt to Fri morning >:( >:( >:(
If DH isn't busy I will just send him along ;D ;D and that way I can make it to the get together.
If I make it I will have my books too and will also bring my EFTPOS machine for those that don't get to the bank ;) (which in other cases is generally me lol)

I can't believe my luck. There were a couple of changes at work this week that has enabled me to swap my day off and this week it happens to be Friday!
I should be able to make it to the get together after all. ;D
Looking forward to finally meeting all you lovely people in person. I wont be able to stay too long as I have to get my house in order. My delivery demo is on Friday night so I need to make things look respectable.

I thought I would just check in here this morning. It is a lovely day, so should be nice by the river. Possibly even cool. I must remember to take my camera and post a photo of us all by our lovely Swan River.

lucky I didn't end up going to where I thought it was and stopped the car to consult a street directory :D probably about 10 ladies, and 3 gorgeous little toddlers. (One of the best things about meeting up with TMX addicts is that there was heaps of yummy food) So nice to have a chat and see faces. Dragged myself back to work, and left the ladies under the tree being serenaded by a man with a guitar.
NB. The man was about 100m away from where they were sitting

Meagan we missed you. So sorry you're not feeling well. You chose a lovely spot. It was cool but most had come prepared with something warm. It was really lovely to see some new faces, thanks for coming. JuJu, especially you as you don't receive your TMX until tomorrow.
I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Some didn't leave until around 1.30-we won't say who. We had some very tasty goodies too. Thanks ladies.

OK. Let's see there was VHJ and her friend,J. CP63, Kathryn, (faffa) Jodi72, JuJu, Virgo and I'm REALLY sorry but I didn't catch the user name of the other lovely young Mum. We had little quiches, biscotti, spiced pumpkin............. (just been posted by CP63), beetroot brownies and date crumble slice. If I have forgotten anything or anyone forgive me.
I think people managed to buy books etc they were after. Kathryn only had 1 calendar and I was most impolite and grabbed it first. She was unable to get her stationery order.

We had a lovely time and I must apologise for my son stealing everyone's food, especially given that I didn't actually bring anything myself. I blame the fact that I dont have my TMX yet!! Next gathering I will make sure I bring plenty to compensate!
My husband can't believe I actually wne to to a gathering of 'random people I dont know.' But for random people I don;t know you are all very lovely and welcoming. Nice to put faces to names I;ve been reading on the thread for the past couple of months!!
Well, only one more sleep to go and I'll have Theo in my arms. (or on my bench)
Will be sure to post my initial attempts at creating masterpieces :D

Thanks everyone, I also enjoyed meeting you all and putting faces to user names. It seems my DS 13 mths made a liar out of me (who doesn't normally eat much) and tried lots of yummy new food!! I guess cooking in the TMX will do that for you. Plus he slept for 2 1/2hrs after that :)

Unfortunately I work fulltime Monday to Friday, so any week day I can't make. Otherwise, I would have loved to come. When my children were young, they enjoyed going to Tomato Lake. It is a great spot.

Most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are OK for me but having said that the foreseeable future is iffy for me being able to do too much socialising. Love these catch ups so will definitely try to be there.

Yes,DH and I went a few years ago. This is my "special" birthday treat with my kids. Only going for a long weekend , Friday to Tuesday. We went to Singpore for my DH's 50th with the kids. Last family holiday, that we pay for anyway. Got super cheap tickets a while ago when air Malaysia had a sale on. Should be nice but sad to miss the TMX get together. Never mind will try for the next one.

this saturday my 12 year old son will be doing the junior survivor annaconda they have lots of fun and the kids dont have to be sports minded to do it . its all about having fun and joining in and not winning
our small town swells to bursting point so many people come for
lots of people compete in the events running, swimming, canoeing ,ect

a pizza driver got robbed at knifepoint last night and the attacker was last seen running towards Tomato Lake :o (hope leesmac doesn't decide to meet us all there as I am sure something would happen :D)

Thanks Judy. At the moment it's raining quite hard and has been most of the day. If you want it to rain just organise a get together in the park. Tomorrows forecast is for showers so we'll see what happens. I guess we can meet and then go somewhere if it's too bad.

I seem to remember the cafe having inside seating as well?? I think let's just meet there and go elsewhere if it is too wet. I will be child free so entertaining my kids is not a problem. I think having a defiinite list of people planning on attending will help so if we go elsewhere then we will know how many are coming before making the move.?? What do you think?

I was planning on coming, have looked on the map as i dont have a clue where Kewdale is, its in the stix, never been there. I dont drive out of areas that i dont know, due to a really bad car crash where my car was written off, so I am not comfortable with how to get there, I am sorry but I wont come.

Judy, CP is second from the right. :P :P. I will definitely post the picture. I may wait until DD gets home and see if I can do it on the decent size computer. Otherwise will give it a go on this one later in the day.
Kathryn thanks for the calendar and "In the Mix" and Jeninwa for the Crio Bru. I'll try it later on. Nice goodies too. VHJ's cinnamon scrolls were lovely, CP's biscuits and jeninwa brought chocolates and crio bru chocolate coated ??

Can you feel the jealous thoughts from those of us in areas where we can't get together because of distance. I know Johnro is my closest on the forum but it's still 3 hours drive. Hope my beautiful family don't read this, I am jealous too. Would love to have been there. Sabah is beautiful and it is really special being here with my children and hubby as an early celebration but....I wanted to be at the get together.

What a fantastic idea a Bali together at my place ,i will be in that for sure. stage 1 will be completed by july i hope , stage 2 will have to wait for now ( huge dentist bill)
What i call the granny flat is way bigger than i thought, its huge , all i wanted was something small, just enough for the two of us and a pool until the main house was done .have a look at the 1st photo way to big. DH will have a look in feb to see if we need to move the stairs to make room for the main house

We used to stay in hotels but have discovered that we just love staying in villas - quieter and more private.
I am hoping to book another trip in February but my sis in law (the babysitter) is very ill in hosptial at the moment and things arent looking good :(

Hi Mezza - I have stayed at Dyana Villas in Seminyak twice and its fantastic. Another cheaper option which I havent stayed at yet but hoping to stay there in February is Rumi Villas also in Seminyak and actually situated on eat street.
If you give me an idea of where you want to stay, how many rooms, and an idea of your budget I can probably recommend some more.

I love going to Jimboran bay for the sunset and to watch the planes. We stayed at the Jayakarta a few years back and it was nice although I prefer a smaller place. That year though was good as we travelled with friends and so the kids all had a ball.
Usually we go once with the kids and once by ourselves each year. We do have trouble with babysitters though as we dont have much family and they are all living in other towns.
Only a few more years and the kids will be able to be by themselves woohooo

Thanks Auds - Seminyak has been recommended to us so that sounds good - I'll check out the places you mentioned. We need a two bedroom villa as we have a 5 year old and a 2 year old with us.
Otherwise, there aren't many restrictions - I guess a family conscious, quietish place would be best for us. I've got no idea about a budget - everywhere I've looked so far seems about $400 per night - is that right - or am I getting ripped off?

We stayed at the Jayakarta 2 years ago for my 40th. My 3 boys had never flown before. We had the best time! La Casa for our first dinner and what a night they made it. We walked back to the hotel with sore faces from laughing and smiling so much.

Mezza try Dyana Villas - they have a website I think its www.balidyanavillas.com if not - google them. We paid $288 a night for a 2 bed but I think its gone up to about $311.
I have done a LOT of comparisons to other villas - most are a lot smaller with a pretty small pool (plunge pool) Our pool and grounds area was HUGE.
For that price you get a maid from 8-4pm who comes in and cooks brekky for you - cleans the villa, does your washing and ironing and will cook lunch for you if you pay for the ingredients. They will pick you up and drop you off at the airport. The pool man comes in every morning and cleans your pool and picks up every little bit of foliage off the grass and sweeps the whole yard.
You also get free WIFI - you can take your laptop or they will lend you one. each villa has its own large water tank with fresh water in it. The indoor/outdoor bathrooms are amazing.
If you pm me your email addy I can send you pics .if you like. Rumi villas are about $170 a night for 2 bed but I havent been there. They dont supply transfers/breakfast or washing. But hey for that price its cheap to just go out and get brekky and get your washing done...................

Auds, we stayed at Rumi villa in September. We went with my brother and his family, so all up 4 adults and 5 chn. We went and had a look at the smaller villas (same group) down the gang a bit. We really liked it, as we had quite a big pool and a big grassed area for the kids to play on. They put up a temp fence which stopped the 2 x 2 yr olds getting into the pool. There were two bedrooms on one side of the pool, and two on the other, along with the kitchen and laundry. The only downside was that my DS 6 yr old was very scared and didn't want to sleep in a room that didn't access our room internally. So I ended up with him, my DH was with our 2 yr old, and our daughter was with my cousin, and my brother and SIL with their 2 yr old in another room. Not an ideal sleeping situation....
Next year we are staying at Villa D'Va 1b. Looks good and locks up internally too - two bedrooms upstairs, and two downstairs. It's on JL Kunti. We are also staying at the Mercure in Sanur. We like to have part villa/part hotel for our annual Bali holiday now.

Booked in at Vila Lumbung in Seminyak, had to phone them to get it sorted but they were quite helpful. Will let you know how it is on our return.

You are right CP. Tomato Lake used to be called Tomato Swamp not so long ago. The reason being that it was in the middle of market gardens. I had an Aunt who lived in Paterson St just opposite it.

I'm a complete newbie but would love to meet other Perth TMX owners for a chat about how wonderful the TMX is. Given the cost of purchase, my DH and many of my friends have a hard time understanding my obsession.
The only downside is I work everyday except Friday and during school terms take my son to playgroup on Friday mornings. Hence, if this suited others, weekends is best for me or Fridays during school holidays.
Hope to be able to meet some Perth forum members in the near future. :)
