courton: What I mean is don't take the payment being taken as an indication that anything is happening at HO with the order.

I didn't find it 'significantly' quieter. I ground up some chocolate pieces before and it was super loud as it normally is. Can't remember if it was quieter than doing the same thing in the TM31 but I really don't think it's a huge difference between the two. For normal things like mixing etc it may be a little bit quieter.

It made sense to have the consultants get them first. They need them to demos to sell them. And it needed to be ready for them on the launch day if they expect them to 'earn' their machine during September. I speak as a consultant so that is my perspective.

BTW the payment email you get is not being processed by HO. We are now inputting all the details into the online system and the email is going out to customers. So it still hasn't necessarily been processed by HO even though payment is taken out. That's what I assume anyways.

Those chips will be a while before anyone can buy them. I remember how long it took for the EDC to be able to be bought from TM.

The free BBL set offer is great and I think going back to 1st of July is good too rather than just August. I really think people need to calm down a bit. I don't bother reading anymore most of it as it just seems like no-one is happy. Apparently a customer of mine who I sold to last December was upset at me a bit. She didn't msg me but someone else told me. I think that's a bit ridiculous.

One thing to consider also is that if TM had announced the new model months in advance it would have killed their sales. Whilst that may not affect Thermomix itself it would affect the incomes of many of their consultants whose sole income is their TM business. Not everyone has a second income to fall back on. It's kind of a lose lose situation either for consultants or customers.

I know Canada has announced it months in advance but do they have consultants like we do?

That one looks interesting. Any ideas on price?

What temperature is needed for caramelising?

Whilst there may have been some consultants who knew before others I do believe most did not know weeks in advance. I know I found out the week before and that was due to other reasons she told me which I'm grateful for but by that time it didn't matter as all new orders were going to be upgraded anyways. Speaking to some of the consultants I know they also did not know. Some totally didn't know and some knew a few days/week before. I think it depends on how close people were to their GL and how much they would tell. Some were very upset as they had upset customers on their hands and one had even sold to a good friend.

I'll double check meganjane when I get mine but that is what the answer to me was when I asked.

That sounds wrong meganjane. Can you speak to the branch manager? Maybe your training can be done at another GL if you don't mind the travel time if she has no training on? We were told that existing ambassadors they are doing some special resign up for this launch. Sounds silly to me.

Hmm I was told the butterfly would not work well with the old TM. Will check it out tomorrow.

The blade is only off in auto mode for rice/yoghurt. That's a bit sucky. I'd like to be able to turn the blade off when doing stews/curries because I don't like the meat breaking down.

You know what I thought was really impressive? That the TM31 is old in terms of technology yet still such a great machine even now that even the TM5 which is a new model still doesn't have any significant upgrades in my opinion in terms of functionality. I think it is really impressive that they made the TM31 and kept it still relevant till today and probably for a while to come. That's really impressive for when it was first invented!

Not surprising. Camel Milk is a super food in some cultures for many hundreds of years :)

Chit Chat / suggestions?
« on: September 07, 2014, 10:55:37 am »
Hi,

I have a demo for the new TM5 this week with some friends. Because it's more informal as they are all good friends besides the normal menu I wanted to add one or two things on extra to show them. Any suggestions for a good recipe? something quick and easy would be best.

Thanks!

I thought of selling my TM31 now since I'll have the TM5 but decided after seeing the market flooded and prices being low that I'd be better off keeping it as a second one lol. I will never be able to afford two thermomixes again but I have earned them through sales both of them (well hopefully i will for this one too) so might as well keep it and enjoy it!

Thankyou for the review :)

Someone said that you can't turn the blade off during manual cooking. It only works in auto mode. Is that correct? Because that would really annoy me now. The blade off feature is the one feature I was really excited about.
