how much longer to wait?

too long lol.  Not sure really 5-10 days to Tas, dependant on stock in Melb.  So by the end of next week it should be here.   ;D

You can steam a chook in a TMX????  WOW, continues to blow my mind.

I know some ppl who are on solar too but are not interested due to energy consumption, some figures would be great.

that the more I read this forum, to more I am amazed at what this machine can do.  I'm so excited about it's arrival and the difference it will make to the food we eat.

I just wanted to say thanks for the reviews.  This is a great thread for a newbie as a place to start.  I have been through and written a list of things to try once our TMX arrives.

Recipe Requests / Basic biscuit recipe please
« on: July 18, 2009, 05:41:30 am »
Hi
I am wanting a basic biscuit recipe please for when my TMX arrives.  I want something fairly stiff, and that can have a variety of flavours.  I want to replace Tiny Teddy biscuits, have some really cute tiny shape cutters.

If someone can point me in the right direction, I'd be appreciative!
thanks

Chit Chat / Have ordered, now to get ready... questions...
« on: July 18, 2009, 12:41:05 am »
Yippee, my TMX is ordered!!!  ;D  So hopefully sometime in the next 2 weeks it will be on my bench (the downfalls of living over the Strait - waiting...)

So I want to start getting my pantry ready.  Going to start freezing ice for the sorbets, actually I could go and scrape it off the grass its that cold here LOL.

Questions

1) Can I just freeze banana in chunks as is or does something have to be 'done' to it?

2) Milling flour, I would really like to do this.  How fine can you get the wholemeal?

3) What should I cook first?  LOL I know this is taste dependant!  But what is a good easy thing to do first?  Custard is on the list!

4) Can i use skim milk in the custard?

5) What other tips and tricks can you give me to make this even better!

TIA
Narelle

Chit Chat / Re: Cookbooks available - what do you recommend?

Thanks everyone.  I will have a good look at the books and see what I think.  We had a yummy pumpkin and lentil curry the other night, either from the Vego book or the Budget one.  I'm not a big curry fan but it was delicious and I want more!
Ta again

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hello from chilly Tasmania!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I'm a little frustrated tonight - I spent all arvo in the kitchen for very little to show for it.  Tonnes of washing up.  I've made a list of all the things I could have done in the TM, saving myself hours I reckon.  So I feel really annoyed!  LOL kinda funny.

Chit Chat / Cookbooks available - what do you recommend?

Hi
I haven't got my TM yet but thinking about the cookbooks.  Am I right in thinking the everyday cookbook comes with TM?  Are there any others that are really really worth getting straight away?
thanks

Yes I think DH has accepted it now - I must order it and book the delivery demo.  Need one NOW lol.  I've been trolling the forum looking at recipes.
cheers and see you at the next class!

Introduce Yourself / Hello from chilly Tasmania!
« on: July 14, 2009, 12:41:38 pm »
Hello!
My name is Narelle and I am very close to ordering a TM.   ;D  Very excited.
I have been drooling and went to a cooking class last night and YUM.  Curries.  Was great.  I sat next to Chelsea.  Hello!   :)

I think I finally have DH convinced and almost getting excited.  He asked me tonight when i was getting it, so that's a good sign.

We have 2 young girls, 5 and 3.  I am a nurse just working casual at the moment, studying and we have our own business.

One of the big appeals for me is to reduce the intake of additives and preservatives.  I also love custard of any variety!  I was thinking about the cooking class last night and there was very little added fat, a bit of oil here and there.  The flavours were so fresh and amazing.

So I look forward to picking brains once my TM arrives.  I think I need to start a list of must do's for when it arrives.

cheers
Narelle
