Hello from Oregon, USA
« on: August 09, 2010, 11:03:40 pm »
I just put in my order for my TM31 this morning thanks to the great articles online and this forum.  I look forward to the new kitchen appliance and I am hoping it will do great things for my small kitchen.  I look forward to perusing this forum for great recipes and hopefully adapting some of my favorite current recipes to share on this forum.

Hi hvacigar, welcome to the forum. The TMX is a little wonder in small kitchens, taking the place of so many other appliances. Whilst waiting for your delivery, I'd suggest you print out a few recipes off here that you'd like to try, get the ingredients in and be ready to go.  I think they should give us the Everyday Cookbook as soon as we order our machines so that we can get ourselves prepared for the big day but this doesn't happen so our forum can fill that gap. Hope you don't have to wait too long for your machine. Let us know how you get on with it.

That's wonderful--congratulations and best of luck with it! You must be counting the minutes until it arrives!

Welcome hvacigar. Now is the hard time for you..............the wait. As JD says, time for you to look at all the recipes etc on the forum and decide what is for you.

Hi Hvacigar and welcome to the forum.  I'm from Perth, Australia but I lived for 6 months in Portland in a former life.  Still miss the food (but not the weather ;) ).  Enjoy your TMX.  It's the greatest thing ever!

Hvacigar, is your kitchen as small as one QuirkyJo used to have - it features on this blog

Welcome, Hvacigar!

I've had a lot of fun with my TMX, even though I don't use it as much as others on this forum.  I also don't have a small kitchen and am not limited in room for my various gadgets (which I love) but it is really ideal for folks with limited space.

I have a friend who lives on her boat in the Ventura, CA marina and has an extremely tiny galley.  After visiting with me back in March, she got a TMX and is thrilled with the way it has worked for her.  She used to eat out at least three or four times a week (dinners - not including fast food meals) and now rarely has dinner or any other meal away from home more than once a week.  She says she has saved a significant amount of money - not to mention impressing her neighbors - she has even developed a tentative relationship with a single guy who also lives on a boat.  All because of the TMX.

Other friends, snowbirds who live full time in a huge motorhome, wintering in Palm Springs and spending the summers up in your area and in the other northern tier states and in Canada, purchased one when the were in Canada in April.  They have also found it extremely useful in their situation.

Thanks for all the encouragement.  The Thermomix is out for delivery to my place, so I should be cooking tonight with it.  I found a great UK site with some fantastic recipes.  I am looking to try some of the sweet corn bisque considering the corn is really fresh right now. http://www.ukthermomix.com/recindex.php

Sweet corn bisque was fantastic, and the Thermomix was easy to operate, and easy to clean.  This thing heats up insanely fast.  I think if I would change one thing about the sweet corn bisque is that I would add a little more sweet corn and pull some out after the corn cook stage to add back in the end.  I like a little solid corn in mine.  Fantastic machine.

You could cook it with the Reverse function to prevent all the kernels disintegrating. ..or was it a time problem?
