Greetings !
« on: April 27, 2010, 02:06:15 pm »
Hello !
Even though I'd registered a little while ago, T just came in yesterday - and seems to enjoy its spot in the kitchen.
So far we've tried :
- raspberry sherbet
- courgette soup (delicious, made it twice already...)
- orange and lemon juice
I was hoping to cook something from "Fast and Easy Indian Cooking" for lunch but it looks like whichever recipe I look at,  I won't have all the ingredients!
That's it for now
L

Hi Lemongrass, welcome to the forum.  Yes you have to be organised and go shopping for all your requirements or better still do a menu plan, make your shopping list and you are ready to go.  I find there are so many things in the back of my pantry from the 'old days' that just aren't being used now.  Have fun with your cooking and with the forum.

Hi there and
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Thank you all for your warm welcome messages !
My combined trip to both the Chinese supermarket and the Indian shop (or shops rather, as I had to visit more than one on my curry leaves hunt) was successful and I have now most of the recommended ingredients from the Indian cookbook.
I spent quite a lot of time packaging / conditioning my herbs and spices, but now they're all neatly stacked in the freezer and ready to use. I haven't yet blended any spices and won't do so before I get hold of enough plastic boxes to store them.
I had my first attempt at Palak Paneer last night and it wasn't bad at all. Didn't find a thermomix recipe for it so I improvised from various sources, and will definitely try and post something coherent at some point.
Till then, happy cooking to you all !
L
