This is a big 5/5, why didn't I find it last year ??? The recipe has omitted to tell you to line the tin but later tells you to remove the paper. The edges may get overbrown but just cut them off and eat them yourself ;) I may dip the corners in chocolate later, as suggested in the recipe but they are just delicious as is and a must for your Christmas hampers.
-
Ohh Goodie. I've just ordered a copy of this to inspire me for Christmas. Thanks for the review - always good to know a recipe has been tried and tested.
-
Those look heavenly Judy.Lucky people who will be the recipients of your lovely Christmas Hampers. :)
-
They do look lovely. I must go and check out the recipe as I don't remember it.
-
Oh Judy these look so good. I've been very good lately and not made any desserts for a while, but I think I could sample one or two of these. I'm off to check out the recipe too, great photo BTW. :D
-
Thanks Julie, nice compliment from someone whose pictures sell any recipe :) ;) Just took the edges around to Mum to nibble on and she loved it. I had to tell her to limit herself to one piece a day though as she has put on weight lately - her answer was 'yes Judith'.
-
ROFL. That is the sort of thing my Mum would have said, and then proceeded to do exactly as she wanted.
-
Precisely Cookie :D :D
-
was reading the recipe in the book, all good until the end ,peel away paper what paper :-))
i better check on the forum and bingo all tested for me, thank JD

I wondered what this recipe was when I first read your reply Uni - how could I have forgotten this one, it is a little gem. Must make a list of all the things I do from year to year for hampers - might make things a bit easier when the time comes around again. Trouble is I'd probably lose/misplace the list :-))
-
I had forgotten about thiks recipe. Thanks for reminding me!!!
-
Made this the other day. Yummy.
-
Mines in the oven!!!
-
I don't have this book and my consultant is taking a break from consulting. Can't find the number for my new consultant. Can anyone pm me the recipe please please please ;)
-
OK, give me 5 DG
-
Wait - there's a festive flavour cookbook? How have I not seen this one?
-
No longer in print Snappy - sorry. There was going to be a new one this year but it never happened.
-
Ahh shame! I do have a bit of a cookbook fetish
-
i hope this helps
-
I have no doubts there will be a new one next year and the recipes from the previous will probably be in it
-
Does anyone know if there is a new recipe developer at HO now that Tenina has left?
-
judydawn - thanks for the recommendation - and fundj - thanks for the recipe!! Much appreciated!! Will be trying these out to add to some gift hampers. :)
-
Does anyone know if there is a new recipe developer at HO now that Tenina has left?
My consultant told me there was CP and he/she is working on updating recipes from the EDC, amongst other things. Silly me didn't ask who this person is, anyone know - do we know them?
-
Yes there is, I can't remember her name off the top of my head :-)) and yes she has updated the EDC :) that is about all I know, others may know more, I have been out of the loop a little in the last couple of months ;)
-
I know this is a silly question, but I'm guessing the 120g sugar is raw sugar, am I right? Oh, I can't wait to try! I haven't got a tin with a removeable base, do you think it will work in a regular tin if you hang the paper over the sides?
-
I just use ordinary white sugar TAT but it shouldn't make any difference if you use raw sugar.
-
FYI A friend of mine went to the Christmas cooking class and the demonstrator suggested using cashews instead of almonds -slightly reducing speed/time.....just thought I'd share as I may not get around to it for a while :)
-
I went to a Xmas cooking class & picked up the festive flavours book. I made this recipe for presents but we ate ate it all :-[ it's seriously good. I followed the recipe exactly. It's kind of a cross between peanut brittle (which I hate!), toffee & fudge. It's just really good!

Found this recipe online here:

-
Thanks. I agree that it is very moreish.
-
Just wondering how far in advance this could be made before Christmas? Just trying to work out what to make each weekend in the lead up for hampers
-
Hi Ninxi84, welcome to the forum with your first question. This can be made well in advance, I'd do it in the first or second week in December and make sure it's in an airtight container.
-
I can't believe I've never made these before. Absolutely delicious!
I'm making a couple of things for DH to take into work on Tuesday night shift (Christmas eve into Christmas morning) that can be shared with the guys on his shift, these were one of them. So easy to make, will do so again.
Apologies for the blurdness of the photo, I think the heat was making me cross eyed. ;D
-
I may need to revisit this recipe as I had forgotten all about it.😀😀
-
I have lovely memories of this one but I’m so old now that it would probably break all my teeth LOL. It’s great if you have someone to give it to though Julie.
-
LOL Judy. It is quite hard out of the fridge but very nice and yes I'm thankful that I can make things like this and off load them ;D
Am planning on making white tim tam cheesecake balls that have Baileys in as well for DH to take tomorrow night. If they turn out okay I'll post the link to the recipe. :)
