What about Nicholas Cage?

Might work. How old is Reacher  now?  Nicholas Cage is 48.

Me too Amy.  :D

I think if Hollywood is letting Tom play the part and he looks nothing like Reacher is portrayed in the books, then a reason for an Irish accent could be written into the script in some way I think.

'Taken' has been out a few years now Gert, was on tv about a month ago.   'Taken 2' is currently doing the rounds but I haven't seen it yet.  :)

Lol! A lot of movies do not get as far as Cairns.  If I had  known I would have gone for sure.

What? You think a penguin should play Reacher?

I like Liam Neeson but he is not great with accents.

He played Rob Roy McGregor in the movie Rob Roy and the Irish kept coming through. Jessica Lange  played his wife and her  Scottish accent was better than his.

He was good in Schindlers List

I've not read any of these books, but if you are looking for an outstanding character actor how about Robert Carlyle?  He is possibly best known for playing Hamish MacBeth in the TV series of that name, but he has played a whole host of roles and is amazingly good.  I love David Suchet as well, but somehow I don't think he would be the one for this role!

Jack Reacher is the all American GI Joe and is very tall and broad. It would take two maybe three Robert Carlyle to fill his boots and Jack does not have a Scottish accent.

I love David Suchet and for an Enlishman he can do an American accent however he is 66 year  old and short.

We need a tall and big with it actor. So far I like Nicholas Cage. I can see him in the roll.  Any others? I would like anyone BUT Tom Cruise.
