Depends on your pumpkin  ;D.  For dense varieties like butternut you can steam in the basket then blitz with a bit of butter and cinnamon and/or nutmeg. For the watery types like the jack-o-lantern types the best thing is to use in soups or roast in the oven to drive off the water and concentrate the flavours.
