Newbie from Surrey, UK
« on: August 16, 2010, 11:00:21 pm »
I just brought a second hand Thermomix 21 from my dear friend who is returning to the US - unfortunately, the packers packed the instruction manual, spatula and butterfly attachment.... that didn't stop me!  Found a recipe for Thermomix stir fried prawns, my daughter and I proceeded to follow the instructions to the letter ..... all went well until we looked, turn the machine upside down, researched the internet all to find the reverse button.... Ah!  there isn't one!  Into the frying pan the prawns went!  Oh well, live and learn --  different recipes for the 21 and 31 ;0)
My girlfriend did promise to send the bits that were packed -- but we did make a lovely red pepper soup and chicken rissoto this evening.

Hi MJ welcome to the forum.  What a great story - I wouldn't have been game to try anything without the manual so well done to you.

Welcome MJ - great to see another UK person on here.    A few more and we may begin to catch up with the Australians  :D

I'm not familiar with the TMX 21 but I'm sure it won't be long before you get used to it.   The people at  Thermomix UK (www.ukthermomix.com) are incredibly helpful and I'm sure they won't mind if you give them a ring if you have any queries... or you can  always post on here as this is a great site for help and support.

Have fun !

Thank you all for the encouraging responses -- and for the helpful websites!  I have managed to get a copy of the instruction manual today.... but not before I scorched the bottom of my TMX bowl whilst trying to steam some chicken, by this I learn  :o
My dog did enjoy the drippings from my marinade as I put the Varoma tray on the kitchen counter, only for it to drip out and onto the floor... oh well!  The chicken was again so moist and delicious!  Oh, and the steamed veggies were oh so very good ;))
BTW, got the bowl cleaned with a little elbow grease (will not make that mistake again!!).
Thanks Again!

Welcome MJ. With that sort of perseverance I'm positive you will succeed with the TM21. Well done.

I fairly regularly get things stuck on the bottom of my bowl and I find that a bit of elbow grease with a liberal sprinkling of bicarb of soda does the trick.

I'm not sure what the TM21 Varoma is like, but with the TM31 one, you can invert the lid and stand the Varoma onto it to avoid the drip scenario...

Welcome - there are plenty of great recipes for the TM21 - unfortunately most in Italian or Spanish  :(

Still with the conversion table it is not that difficult to work it out.

Good luck  :-* :-* :-* :-*
