Tahini
« on: October 08, 2020, 08:41:03 am »
Has anyone here made their own tahini - and if so, was it worth it?
I bought a massive bag of sesame seeds some time ago (no idea what I was thinking) and they have been out of date for some time. They're still okay, but I can't use them fast enough so need to bulk process them and tahini seems the most useful option.
I'm thinking I'll just bung them in and whizz the bejesus out of them - unless someone has any finessing to suggest?  ;D

If you give that recipe a go, Amanda, could you let us know how it goes, I use quite a lot of tahini and making it myself could be a good option.

Amanda , just saw your post.  I tried making Tahini from seeds.  It wasn’t successful.  I use a lot of Tahini and sesame seeds.  I add the seeds to my Surprise biscuit recipe and sometimes  a handful to bread dough. I also add them to protein balls.

Chookie, I've used this recipe and it works well for me.  I don't think there's a lot of difference in cost unless you can get the seeds cheaply.
