It's an Irish dish Michele. I like it with some bacon in it. Goes well with pork but not for a calorie conscious meal  :)

We have a similar dish in Scotland called Rumbledethumps which has bacon and swede as well as the potato and cabbage then oven baked with chees on top. A great side dish with sausages or any grilled meats   :)

Oh I made Rumbledethumps a few years ago for a cooking challenge I was a part of, I found it to be really tasty. 

Must go and revisit that recipe to make some time next week I think.  :D

Am making Quiche Lorraine tonight.  I have my dtr and family staying tonight and when I asked if there was anything in particular she felt like, that was her reply!  :)
