I finally got around to making the KFC chicken tonight and it was a big hit!  I used chilli flakes in the spice mix and it was a little spicier than the kids would have preferred, but they still liked it. I'm trying to slip small amounts of chillli into our meals to get the children used to it, as DH & I really miss it in our meals.
I also made another batch of muesli bars tonight while the oven was on as the ones I made yesterday are almost gone. I made some Macarons too, but I chickened out of using my Thermo Chef after my last disaster. They worked really well this time.

Tonight DH made a squid ink, porcini and snail risotto with some extra pre-cooked wild rice added - very tasty and enough for lunch tomorrow as well (although I'll have to reheat in microwave at work so never quite as nice).

It actually is really yum. The squid ink is just for color so most of the flavor comes from the mushrooms and stock. A lot of people are put off by snails but try garlic snails and you'll never look back. I buy tinned ones, not those from the garden!

Have been looking for other quinoa recipes so finally got around to trying Dashingden's African Quinoa Stew and it was quite tasty and easy, so one to keep and make again!
