I am another compulsive mixer of things that I don't necessarily want or need, but make for the sheer enjoyment and "just because I can".  I pass them all on to my neighbours - I never get any feedback so I don't know whether they actually use them or bin them, though!

I once gave a hamper to a friend and she emailed back when she had tried everything and commented on each and every item in the basket.  She even asked for some recipes.  I was pleasantly surprised as like you Marina, not too many people bother with feed back.

What a lovely thing for your friend to do Judy.  That would certainly make me want to make and give more stuff to her.  :)

It's amazing the different responses isn't it?  I don't really do hampers but I do share bits and pieces I make. The responses range from acceptance and a thanks ( I think they give it away - my brother), to May I have the recipe please?

This particular friend is a bit of a foodie Julie, whenever she visits Tasmania or anywhere really, she brings me home bits and pieces from her travels.  Her Christmas hampers are always completely different to mine - she makes lovely Christmas cakes, puddings, jams, chutneys and usually has a packet of Brie or Camembert along with lovely thin wafer crackers. I had a break from doing hampers last year and shouted them out to lunch instead but my friend still did a hamper for me.

Today we had a meeting with the DON of the new nursing home currently being built to house our residents. We will be moving into it in Sept/October this year.  I'd made a list of questions to ask and she addressed everything on the list.  I now look forward to moving Mum and DH into the new premises in due course and all staff have been promised jobs which is very important to us all.

It is all sounding good for the nursing home, Judy.  With luck you'll all be in by Xmas (working on the theory that everything runs late!).

Judy, that does sound very good. I'm glad you did your homework.
We had a plumber come today to install the washing machine and put washers on some taps.  Also toilet in B and B end was running continually.  All fixed.
Very hot today but AC working well.
Still unpacking, nearly there.
Ral picked me some roses from the garden.

Your roses are beautiful Chookie.  I think your DH is a keeper.

It sounds like everything is falling into place with the new nursing home Judy.

A quick trip to the supermarket this morning before the heat.

What a sweet guy Ral is Chookie.
Nice that you are coming to the end of your unpacking. We got back from Melbourne late Sunday and gave been busy since.
Still packing for our move which starts on the 18th when we get the keys.
We have taken most of the boxed stuff to DD's house. She has a large garage and lives 5 mins away from our new place, so once settlement takes place we won't have to trek as far for all the boxes.
We went for a final inspection today to make sure everything is to our liking and working properly. Lights, Air-con,Taps, Oven, Hot Water etc. All good, especially the air-con, it was very hot today so it was a good test.

Just noticed, CC, your above post was your 14,000th - what a lot of nice, round numbers!  What a milestone.  By the time you read this you will have added even more posts to that number.
