Condiments and Sauces / Steak Diane Sauce

Steak Diane Sauce - 4 serves

1 small red onion cut in half
3 cloves garlic
15g oil
50g bacon pieces (optional)
1 tblspn worcestershire sauce (I used the TMX one which is stronger than bought variety, may need 2T of bought one)
3 tblspns tomato sauce
150mls cream

Chop the onion and garlic 6 seconds on speed 6
Add diced bacon if using and saute in the oil on Varoma, speed 1 for 4 minutes, mc lid off
Blitz 10 seconds on speed 6
Add sauces and cream and cook for 2 mins 90o speed 2

Check for smoothness of the sauce and blitz further if required. The sauce is smoother without the addition of the bacon but the bacon does add a nice flavour to the sauce.

That's great news Cathy.  It might become the bread recipe for lots of us  ;D ;D ;D  I am going to try it with white as DH is not a lover of wholemeal bread.  Isi has done well to introduce us to this easy recipe.

So are you saying 750g white flour Chookie?  I find homemade bread always toasts unevenly for some reason, nice to know someone who actually knows what they are doing has the same problem  ;) ;)  Thanks for that info Chookie.

Good to hear JD - hope DH did too.
Yes he did Thermomixer but he takes so long to eat his food that the satay sauce went cold and solid and he said the chicken was a bit dry.  Had he eaten it whilst it was hot, it was perfectly moist and the hot sauce beautifully runny.   With the medication he is on, all meats are 'too dry' for him so I don't take any notice of those comments anymore.  You can give him the best fillet steak cooked medium-rare and he will say it is too dry  :-)) :-))  Pity he can't get to really enjoy a good piece of meat anymore.  I give him a bowl of soup and tell him that can't possibly be too dry  ;D ;D  Gotta laugh, what else can we do ;)

I googled to see if there were any ideas Purplehat and found one person who had tried it successfully but because it was a lot of work she says she won't be doing it again.  Tasted good though she said.

12 applies, washed and peeled. Chop into small pieces (could use the TMX for this but don't over chop).  Pour over them, 3 litres boiling water with 3 teaspoons cream of tartar mixed in with it.  Leave it for 24 hours then strain the juice through a fine sieve or chux.  Measure out 8 cups juice and add 2 cups sugar and cook until sugar has dissolved.

Someone may have tried it themselves and can give you more information but this is a starter.

Today for lunch I made vivacity's GF tomato rice with leftover ham (although we are not GF) and Depome's Potato & Bacon Pie for tomorrow's BBQ lunch. I also made a steak Diane sauce to go with the T-bones tomorrow, will post that. Can't seem to find anywhere for sauces - can one of the moderators please give me a clue as to where I can post this recipe please  :-* :-*

Found some sauces in Jams & Chutneys so will put it there. Maybe the heading should be Jams, Chutneys & Sauces
