Chicken soup I think. I feel rotten sore throat and can't stop sneezing. I hate colds in summer!

Yes I do leave it to air and wash straight away - I guess it's just the nature of the material it's made from and my very sensitive nose! I will have to learn to not breathe in when I am dealing with the lid

Starters and Snacks / Re: Vegetable Stock Concentrate« on: December 13, 2012, 06:01:32 am »I can't see why not PT. My favourite way to make the VSC is to roast the vegies first, the flavour is so much better and I can then use it as a broth in winter when I want something to go with a sandwich or such. That would improve the flavour, thanks for the tip Mind you, I'm really put off the vsc now because I smell it every time I take the lid of the thermomix. 229

This one does look nicer than the edc one. I really need to make a stock without onion or garlic (low fodmap diet)... will have to play around with spices/flavours to see how it goes... garlic or onion infused oil helps.
Can you use frozen (defrosted) veggies? That way as I have veggies that need using I could freeze them all in a bag and then make stock once the bag is full? 230

Argh... I'm of course having the same problem. I've only had the thermomix for 4 days and the lid and seal stink! I hate smelly things. I've cleaned with detergent, vinegar, lemon juice, bicarb. I've never left it dirty or with the lid on. It still smells like the vegetable stock concentrate that I made with the consultant. My DD's porridge that I made this morning had the lingering odour of it too I am really disappointed and shouldn't have to come up with all different methods to try to remove an odour or have to have a separate seal for savoury and sweet for a machine that is so costly and it is a problem that has been known about for a few years now.
All this isn't helped by the fact that I have an extra sensitive nose due to pregnancy! 233

I just boiled some eggs in the thermomix, lol! At least I don't have to worry about boiling the pot dry (which I have done a couple of times before as I am easily distracted), and will be making sticky date pudding for a take along dessert tonight.

I was only 18! Married at 18 too - I found the right man and wanted as many married years together as possible 236

Awesome! Frees up some bench space. I will just have to keep DD1 (who is 6 out of it)... she keeps eyeing off the bits of apricot

Chit Chat / Re: What is for Lunch Today« on: December 12, 2012, 03:01:16 am »A lot of dishes do PT. I think its because the flavours develop overnight I was hoping it would - it wasn't great last night! I love eating casseroles and curries the next day... nom nom. I remember my dad used to always make spag bol the day before so the flavours could develop. 239

I have been macerating dried fruit in brandy for christmas cake in the fridge, but I really need the fridge space - would it be okay in an airtight container at room temp? I want to leave them for a few more days yet.

Carrot, coriander and pumpkin soup. It seems to taste better today than it did last night.
