Crio Bru granules

Hi guys, I've just bought Tenina's "For Foods Sake" (finally) and am just wondering what I can sub for crio bru granules. Is cocoa an appropriate substitute? Or should I use cacao nibs?

" there is about 6-7 recipes out of 80 that have Crio Bru in them in the book and Crio Bru can always be replaced with Coffee, as directed in the recipe, either brewed liquid, or granules…"
