I loved the Rosie Project and have just finished reading The Rosie Effect which I really enjoyed but not quite as much as the first one.

Yes, I have read a few reviews over the past couple of days and it seems that the sequel isn't as good as the first book.  What a shame.

I loved the Rosie Project. Had a few giggles.  Now reading Fiona McCullum, Paycheque, not into it yet like the last one I read of hers , I can't remember what the title was, although I remember the sequel is called THE button Jar.

I've read that a lot of you get free books from Amazon. How does that work? All I can find is the daily free downloads which are a 15 minute Jamie Oliver recipe etc.

I started using that site when you first posted the link, Gert, but got so annoyed at the editing (or should I say, LACK of editing) of so many of the books I just couldn't stand reading them and rarely go to the site any more. It is a great shame as I am sure I am missing out on some of those gems you mention.  Maybe I'll give it another go.

I agree Marina. The trick is to edit your preferred genres as much as you can then I only look at those that have so many pages or a certain number of stars or reviews. Then I click on the book and go to amazon and read some of the reviews discounting the first 4 or 5 as being friends of the author. . You can devise your own criteria.

You are right there, Gert.  I will have to be a little more strict in how I look at these books in the future.

Just finished "If Walls Could Talk" by Lucy Worsley. She is a British historian and this book is about the British history of the different rooms in our homes, from Medieval times onward. She is a terrifically engaging historical writer who writes absorbingly, using quotes, anecdotes and jokes - I love her writing to bits. Very easy to read.

I am currently reading one of the best books I have ever read. It's called The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett and it was recommended by Chookies lovely DH, Ral. This will be the first of many readings because there is so much in this little tale. This first read is pure fun and I have been banned from reading it upstairs at night :D

Thank you Ral  :-*
