Just finished The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly and vey much enjoyed it, unfortunaely the other two books in the trilogy, The Wild Rose and The Winter Rose, aren't available in Kindle so it is very frustrating.
Oh, that's just annoying!

Is there a Crowne Plaza in Hobart, Get? I might be able to leverage a deal out of them if there is.

I'd love to come to this but totally can't commit this far ahead. Is there wiggle room?

I've just read all this thread and wondered Amanda and Judy how are you going with yours? I don't think the link works to the actual product on eBay, would either of you mind showing a new link? I'm interested in getting one...
Mine died recently so I bought the Sunbeam model, which doesn't seem all that much better than the Ebay cheapie.

I enjoyed Room - although to say one enjoyed it isn't quite right. It looked at other issues around that sort of long term confinement that I hadn't thought of. I've just read the Booker short-listed "Harvest" by Jim Crace. An excellent read. Also "The Telling Room" which is about a piece of cheese (in a roundabout sort of way) - also excellent.

Finished reading Mark Kurlansky's "Salt" - brilliantly researched, accessibly written and a must for anyone interested in food & history.

Yes Deeau, my Bigland sealer is still going but I have to say I don't use it as much as some people would as I don't buy my meat in bulk.
Judy - is this still going? Mine died on the weekend when it stopped sucking the air out. I had 20kg of snags to deal with so went & bought the basic Sunbeam model which has left me pretty unimpressed. It seems quite hit and miss, certainly not worth the extra that I paid for it.

I hadn't read historical fiction since reading Jean Plaidy when I was a teenager, but I just loved Mantels books and couldn't put them down. Can't wait for the next one. I think I most enjoyed how contemporary she makes the politics feel. Just started reading Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. Think it will take me a while to get through - I enjoy historical fiction but I find the writing style of this a little annoying and confusing. Or maybe that's just because my head feels like its full of cotton wool at the moment!

Finished reading "The Rosie Project" the other day. A very enjoyable read - loved it to bits.
Am now reading Mark Kurlansky's "Salt - A World History" which is shaping up well.

I've been reading tons, but mostly rubbish - pleasantly distracting murder mysteries and infuriatingly poorly written contemporary fiction. If any of you come across a book called "Tomorrow There Will Be Apricots", don't waste your time. The title is the best part about it. The list of my latest reads is here - https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/2981443?shelf=readI'm going to give "The Rosie Project" a try next - I'm told it's great. I hope so.

Nice one Cookie! I had some cheese and rosemary biscuits that a friend made last year and loved them - but forgot about them until just now!

Just finished Maggie O'Farrell's "Instructions for a Heatwave". I usually love her books, but this one just didn't quite gel for me. My review here - http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/707205793I think it's time for another murder!

I've just indulged in a little online shopping at Amazon, Gert. Check out "She Left me the Gun" & "Tomorrow there Will Be Apricots", both look very good.
