Does anyone recommend any vacuum sealers?

I have an EZI Vac.  have had it for probably 20plus years.  i use it a lot.  No Problems.  Think it was expensive.  Bought it at a country fair,  The bags are expensive, but when I checked out the Sunbeam bags recently,  i was amazed at how expensive they were.

I think it is important to use the recommended bags.
i would check out the cost of the bags before i bought any machine.

I have a seal'n'pac. It uses commercial bags, so much much cheaper than the textured bags. It will even do sandwich bags and can vacuum and seal bags of beans, pasta etc.

Yes Deeau, my Bigland sealer is still going but I have to say I don't use it as much as some people would as I don't buy my meat in bulk.

Judy, I use mine for soups, Granola, spag sauce, stewed fruit, dried veggies, curries,  infact anything  that you freeze in a container.   I love the way you can stack goods flat.

Yes I know I should Chookie but I tend to grab a ziplock bag instead

We've had our Sunbeam for years. We buy our sealing bags in bulk from Master Butchers (WA) and they work out much cheaper.

Mine died on the weekend when it stopped sucking the air out. I had 20kg of snags to deal with so went & bought the basic Sunbeam model which has left me pretty unimpressed. It seems quite hit and miss, certainly not worth the extra that I paid for it.

I have the EziVac like Chookie and it's worked well for about 4 years. I bought mine at the Good Food and Wine show but you can also buy online from them.

I'm just sourcing extra bags as the generic brand I bought at the Good Guys aren't very good quality.

I ended up buying 2 Bigland machines a year ago & they're still going strong with quite a bit of use. I did have a failure with one of them but was sent a part(T-piece) from the supplier & my hubbie replaired it successfully! I think achookwoman is right about the bags though. Even using the recommended ones can not work sometimes as I think they occasionally have invisible holes.
All in all though my problem seems solved. Sunbeam are much more expensive too so I won't be trying them again!
