yeah amy that is what i figured that it wouldn't stick to the bickies like an ice cream sandwhich should so that is why i popped the crunchie in the middle .... mine turned out nice and creamy .... ;D ;D ;D well the second batch.

next time i will go for 2 of the bigger crunchies to give a little bit more of a stronger honey comb flavour ..... i wonder how a violet crumble would go? ...maybe try this too next time.

Chit Chat / Re: so glad i have a thermo ....
« on: July 30, 2012, 04:34:41 am »
thanks guys for the support .... to all of you ...Cheers

it is not a decision that i have made lightly ... but i am in my forties and i weight about 117kg which is pretty sad on many levels ... i used to be 136 at my heaviest ... Xmas 2010 i was down to 108kg and the weight is just creeping back on ... i have been doing water aerobics 3 nights a week for the past 16 months (i have just stopped in may cause it is too bloody cold) and i have done every diet that is on this earth ... i have had every blood test ... and i am normal (apparently ... but some would beg to differ  ;) though ) so the bottom line for me is i am over indulgent in foods ... and this is where i want the physical control of the banding. i don't think i eat unhealthy foods on any sort of higher level ... i just eat too much .... and i really don't want to get 10 years down the track and have stuffed knees and ankles and spurs in my heels not to mention the heart and blood problems that can come with long term weight carrying.  i had my kids young and i have no health problems and my hubby and i are almost child free (only one left at school out of our 4 kids) and i want to travel and continue to do the things that i like to do ...like camping and bush walking ... so my theory is prevention is better than cure.... and i really believe i have given all the weight loss eating styles a fair go .... and i want this ... yes i am a bit nervous about getting my head around the eating challenges of post -op and the soft food intake is only for a short term of the big picture...... but everybody that i have spoken to that are post banding all finish with the same thing ...no regrets and it is the best decision they have made. and the before and after results are amazing. anyway enough of that .......

Back to the thermo .....i am going to be  so glad that i can smash fresh fruit and freeze them into blocks too and i feel so lucky that i can still have such a huge variety in my menu compared to some of the other members of the forum of banders that i joined ..... but i will mention the thermo .... but i just felt i can really share my yip-a-dee yahoo here.

i will post you my journey as i go if you like .... i have a dietitians appointment middle of next month ...then pre op first week in Sept ... you have to go on optifast for 2 weeks prior to shrink your stomach and reduce the risk of rejection. ... so thunder-birds its a go  :P from here

Hi P
Welcome to the forum.
Best of luck with your lapband op. With the help of your TMX and your sense of humor, judging from your forum name, I'm sure you will be successful. Let us know how you're getting on :)
... yum yes my sense of humour gets me both in and out of trouble ...i think it is in my genes ;)

Best of luck with your surgery and you will find the TMX very useful for making yummy, healthy food and be able to get the consistency you need.

May I also add that a friend of mine lost over 60kgs with lap band and I have seen her change from a very insecure person into this very confident happy one, a decision that was the best one she ever made and I am sure you will find the same xx
... well give your friend a big congrats from me ....
Dear phatassphairy - first let me say welcome, as even though you have made 35 posts I haven't met you on the forum before.  :)

Second, just to let you know I have had my lapband for seven years and my Thermomix for 18 months.  I agree that you are well set for your changing life with the support of the TMX.

I wish I'd had mine back in the post-op stages.  Good luck.
... thank you and i hope i can get 7 years down the track and still feel happy with my decision.

tweaking ----- 60 seconds is too long and my first batch curdled  :-[  so i did it again and did 40 sec at this step.

Well it turned out great ... and over night in the freezer makes the bickies slightly softer (but there was definitely testing in a couple of hours when it was set) and these were good for a couple of days ....i will need to get pics again .... i had a child clear my card before i uploaded ... and this was realised days after  :-))

my tip is to find the right dish first by sussing out how the bickies fit on the base cause the ice cream is a bit runny before it is set and you will get it running out at the ends and you need to lay the bickies in the say direction over the top for easy cutting.

definitely will do the crunch in the middle all the time was awesome ...... this is certainly a dinner party favourite for sure. and might add something to the top just to pretty up the serving .... then i will take pics =)P

Chit Chat / so glad i have a thermo ....
« on: July 29, 2012, 12:34:05 am »
because i am booked in to have lapbanding surgry done in september .... and for the first week after the op it is a strict liquid diet then the next couple of weeks are mashie foods like potatos and stews....then you increase to back to eating normal meals working out what you can and cant handle. ..... so i am loving that i can cook my family normal dinners and just whip my serve in the thermo .... and the soups will be so easy. I have joined a forum of people who have had banding and they share some of their recipes and they talk about different soups that they buy ..... and i was busting to say well i own a thermo and i make my own stock and the soups are so yummy =) and just rave on about my love affair with my thermo .... but  i thought that was big noting my crack and just kept this secret to myself =) .... so i reckon it is the right place to say .... i am so glad i have a thermo and everybody know exactly what i mean with out sounding like a big noter  ;D ;D ;D.

just sayin  ;D

hey fozzie i have done this diet ... and my natropath said no more the 30 days on the drops ... then you have the same in equal time off ... so if you do the drops for 20 days ... then you rest for 20 days ... i did 28 days  and lost 10 kgs and you are not hungry at all i actually had to remind myself to eat ..... i also took a liver cleansing tablet too.

Did you bottle it Chelsea?  ;D ;D ;D

*LIKE* :)

i have my little great niece sleep over last night .... and this aunty is going to make miss 2 a batch of the tweaked thermo play dough and see how it goes ...it sure is going to be different to the old dislocated elbows over the stove top while stirring style that i used to do for our kids.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Mum of eight awaiting new arrival....
« on: December 15, 2011, 12:42:55 pm »
hello Breezy ...how are you going? and becareful cause when i got my hand on the thermo ... i was cooking until 2 am ...good luck with it all.

My Daughter is a vegetarian  and i use the  chinese-style stir fry all the time (on page 92 of the ED cook book ) and the thing that impressed me is the amount of vegies that i use seem to be 1/4 of what i would use to make a stir fry in the wok, but there is plenty for us.(i have 3 teenagers and they eat like they have never been fed)

Yes you can freeze it ,i freeze 200g balls which will be a small pizza.
Or you can ½ cook your pizza with the toppings then freeze but it does take up a lot of room in the freezer.

ciao

i like that idea ..... even if you just put a base sauce on then added toppings later
