 :) made these today added carrot and parmasen cheese didnt have the sauce it said done a bit of spring gully hot sauce and tomotoe sauce used freshed herb and they were delish will be making them again

I made these for a children's party recently and they were a huge hit! I'm definitely saving these to my favourites  :D

Served them to my partner and his apprentice. Both loved them and the apprentice wouldn't believe they were vegetarian. He still swears they had meat in them!

Will def be making them again and will try the trick of not thawing the bought puff pastry too much.

Hi Paula

It seems the path has changed.  I'll change the link but as the recipe is in the public domain, on the official TMX recipe community, so I'll just copy and then it won't get lost.  It really is a great recipe.

Ingredients
1 onion , peeled and halved
2 tbsp mixed herbs of choice
100 g walnuts
95 g organic rolled oats
3 eggs
150 g fetta cheese
1 tbsp Tamari sauce
45 g organic breadcrumbs
Rough Puff Pastry or 3 sheets Butter Puff Pastry
Sesame seeds (optional)



Preparation

Pre-heat oven to 200°C

Place onion and herbs into TM bowl and chop for 6 seconds on speed 6.

Add walnuts, oats and chop for 3 seconds on speed 6. Scrape down.

Add eggs, cheese, tamari, breadcrumbs and mix to combine for
20 seconds on speed 5.

Cut just thawed puff pastry in half on a working bench.

Place 1/6th of the mixture onto the long edge of the pastry and roll, cut into four equal portions, brush the tops with whole milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Place sausage rolls on a lined baking tray, brush with beaten egg and score with knife. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake for 20 minutes at 200°C until crisp and golden.

Just wondering, what is Tamari sauce? Is there something I can use as a substitute?

Paula, substitute soy sauce. I actually prefer the taste with soy sauce. Tamari is Japanese soy sauce that is wheat free

Glad I found this, and can't wait to try. Miss 10 has recently decided to go vegetarian, so will b great for her to enjoy a treat when I make sausage rolls for the rest of us. Think I'll make a batch and freeze them.

Amanda you may find that you prefer the vego ones!  I used to make 2 kinds, but now we all like the vegetarian ones more, less greasy, so I make double of those.

Yes double or triple batch for me here too. It took a lot of convincing the SWHL that there was no meat in them the first time I made them. Now they are the preferred here too  ;)

I made these today because all of the reviews sold me and as with everyone else I agree "you can't tell they are vegetarian" !!   I've never made sausage rolls before as I cant bring myself to buy that yukky sausage mince... The recipe is fairly forgiving I think because I didn't have any fetta (only a measly 25g of parmesan) so used this along with 2 tablespoons (instead of 1) of soy sauce for that extra bit of salt that the fetta would have given and it still tasted great. I added a fair bit of black pepper too. Also as advised above I only used the 2 eggs and let it set in the fridge for awhile - the mixture thickened up and handled perfectly.  Might try adding some processed carrot next time or even a bit of broccoli (I don't have little kids who need the vegies hidden so a bit of green would be alright with us) - but all in all I won't mess about with this recipe too much as its SO GOOD !!! Thanks
