I received my copy of In The Mix 2 during the week and it’s a lovely book.
It’s similar in size to In The Mix 1 and has the same matt feel to it.

Like the first book, its “cheffy” or restaurant type food, most of the recipes aren’t for every day cooking but more for dinner parties and special occasions. But like the first book a lot of the recipes have a few parts to them and you could easily make one part of the recipe and incorporate that into your everyday menu planning.

It includes some of Dani’s own recipes and recipes from Chefs, cooks and bloggers from around the world.  Quirky Jo and Helene from Super Kitchen Machine have a recipe included.

I do really like the book and I’m determined (unlike In The Mix 1) that I will make something from it!

I’ve chosen fish cakes in lettuce cups, roasted capsicum tart, potato sciacciata and piccalilli as the first recipes I’ll try.  I love the look of the deconstructed banoffee pie and will make that next time we have guests.

Thanks for the review Katie.  I had been wondering about this book but as I hadn't made anything from book 1 thought perhaps I shouldn't!!!   You have me now thinking!!!!!!!

I read this book from cover to cover yesterday/last night and like Katie, I am impressed with it also.

I like that the recipes are listed under the following categories and not in seasonal order which seems to be the latest trend in recipe books.

Breakfast & Bites
Entrees
Mains
Desserts
Cheese
Bakes
Condiments
There's a list of recipes by chefs & cooks - so easy to find your favourite chef and their recipes here.
Getting Started - shows you how you can use various components of some of the longer recipes in a more simple manner.

There are 50 recipes or parts of recipes in the book that I would do, Danni's own recipes are very doable but with the chef's recipes there are only certain components I would make.  I found enough recipes used ingredients I normally have on hand or are easily accessible from supermarkets to warrant having this book on my Thermomix bookshelf.  

Those with bigger families and those who entertain a lot will find plenty to make in this book and a lot of the longer recipes can be started well in advance so are not as hard as they first seem.

Don't be put off by some of the names of the recipes in the index list, here are some I'll try

Bagna Cauda - this is an anchovy dip and it can be made without using a siphon.  I'll probably reduce the amount of anchovies though  ;)
Sardine Rillettes - this is a pate which would be nice on toasted bread
Squid & prawn balls
Hedgehog rice balls
Xiao Long Bao (varoma steamed pork dumplings) - only ingredient I wouldn't normally use is pig's skin but I'm sure my local butcher can supply me 150g of that for 1 of the components of this recipe.
Pumpkin curry ice-cream - 1 part of a recipe but I would only do this part, I like to try different ice-creams

and so the list goes on and that was only in the first section!

I will endeavour to make many recipes from this book over time and I thank HO for providing me a copy free of charge. They now do this for me to cover the cost of postage on our giveaway books but those who know me know that my reviews will always be honest.

If there is one criticism I have of this book it's that I feel the print is too small.  Even with glasses I have to strain to read it, especially at night and first thing in the morning when my eyesight seems to be a bit blurry.  I had to resort to using a magnifying glass this morning.  Maybe its just me and my eyes but I've just compared it with Alyce's latest book and I have no trouble reading that.

From the quick look I had in Melbourne I agree with you Judy. It is now becoming that I have to select between thermomix books too. Tenina's is being released early to mid December.

I just went to HO and bought it. I thought when I was looking at the contents on the website that it may be a little too cheffy for me, but JD's cooking today has pushed me into getting one. I too will be getting more selective from now onwards, as I will have to start getting rid of some cookbooks to fit in the space that I have. (reminds me - where is mcmich lately ???). I also bought a travel bag while I was there as I really need one.

$120 for the black one (which I got) and the pink was $80.  I heard there is a difference in quality,  someone correct  me if I'm wrong.

Just picked this up from my consultant, she is lovely she gave me the new calendar & also the pie weights, what a lovely gift :)
