News about Thermomix / Re: TM5

Ok so I have had my TM5 a week now and here are my thoughts.
Firstly this is m first thermal mixer ever and I am wondering why I have waited  so long? (Mostly because I was far too stubborn).
When it arrived I was petrified and I just wanted to read manuals.  To my surprise my husband flicks the switch on and makes himself a batch of tomato sauce. He adjusts the recipe to his preferred "take your head off" chilli level and the ingredients we have in the fridge, then pleased with his efforts he makes a batch that I can eat. I follow with a lamb saag, some aoli, the easy chocolate cake- which is now going to be my new basic recipe to adjust to all flavours as the texture is devine,..and suddenly I realise my fear is well and truly over. By this time my husband wanted to make some dips and was calling me a thermohog and saying that he understood why people had two, but I think he meant a "his" and "hers".The auto rice recipe did not work out for me, however unlike a rice cooker there is more room to continue cooking and I loved how it came out fluffy in the end. I love guided cooking and I love manual. I love the ease of cleaning it...and I love that my husband feels confortable enough to pick up the recipe book and go for it. As I have said to folks at work if you don't cook, it is terrific..and if you do like to cook it is awesome.

PS Gert, I hope that you feel all better soon.

Introduce Yourself / Hello from Freo

Hi There

I have been lurking around this forum for awhile and realised that I had failed to introduce myself properly.
In my late 40's, step mum and FIFO widow (for the moment) who is extremely new to the world of a thermal mixer though have been coveting one for a while (after I got over the  "of course I don't need one of those, I can make all of those things traditionally" stage, which actually lasted a few years).

Due to my circumstances, I am looking for making and developing little simple meals that are kind on the waistline and can probably do me for one or two meals at s time. I also love to bake a big luscious cake for the hell of it and of course when the extended family is over it is a "very large and full of life stories and food" event.

In a former life I was a Home Ec teacher so find myself looking at this new kitchen addition with complete horror...not an experience I have ever had before. I want this appliance to be my friend not an enemy.

I am loving the generosity of this forum, the old family recipes, the wise words and the conversations.

So thank you for letting me be a part of here.

Great review Fenix. Look I was one of those same people that said I would never spend that on that. After my first demo, I came home and made the same things in my current kitchen appliances....but there was always this burning doubt that perhaps I could have lot of fun with that machine. When I finally get my TMX, it has been on order FOREVER😄, I am not going to throw out all my appliances immediately, I am going to play a while before I decide what appliances I can live without... I don't think I will give it a name and I am not sure that I will decorate it...but I like white, so they decorated it ready for me. ...and I am truly grateful to Gert who set up a forum on the "rumours". I had a niggling doubt that there must be a change in model, but was not having any luck finding the info although I knew that there was a bigger factory. So I guess what I am taking the long way round to saying is, you have fun with your machine and don't worry about what people think. They are just probably a few years off buying one themselves... I was:)

Yes, I saw the post by TMX about the bowls. It is  good that those get out as seemingly people paid for theirs 6 months ago. I hope the seals are ok. Don't think I could bare reading of any more controversy. the little error messages are turning me off a bit. not to mention BPA, which I did not even think about. (Seriously though it is probably more dangerous breathing in fumes in my commute to work every day in the

Having said that I would really like to get my TMX to have a play. I read today they are up to orders on the 17th Sept, they seemed to be doing the 15th for about a week..so I guess with I have a way to go for my order that did not get put through till the 27th, on and I paid in full so apparently they process the finance ones first. Ohh and Gert, it was my consultants first ever sale..so I am really going to have to wait! :)

Does anyone know how they work out when they process your order.? Some people have got one within 12 days( 3 customers in qld)...other people are taking five weeks.... and some even more? It just seems a little odd..and I the end I guess it does not matter. I still have a stove, an oven , food processor etc.  :)

I called today as I never received the welcome email and had no paperwork (gorgeous newbie consultant). The poor lady sounded really frazzled when I picked up the phone. In any case it took a phonecall and a couple of  emails to sort out a mismatched email address but by the end I had a reply on a direct email account from the customer service person.
Sure I am not happy about the wait, but I am two weeks closer to getting my first thermomix then I was two weeks ago.
I just hope that they also pay my consultant at the end of the month as he had to perform at my demonstration..and if he has to wait for payment till delivery that does not seem fair.
Does anyone know how that part works?

That is interesting Gert. It does seem to be cutting out your local consultant though. I wonder how they get their ongoing income? I have made a pact with myself to try and find ways of sending business their way...as ii want to keep them going as long as that is what they want taste well.

I am a little bit sad to hear about the delay. The money was deducted from my CC last weekend so I had hoped that would mean a speedier delivery. Ahh well.

Loved the review Gert...and can not wait to get my first machine, my demo was my consultant's first. He did not have to be impressive the machine did that for him.

Saw this information on another forum...

For those of you thinking to get one outright or on easy 3 payments options, if you have a Commonwealth bank credit card(Diamond or Platinum award), you will get extra 12 months extended warranty. Also, you can ring up your credit card center as request a Great Rate option with 14 days. This gives you 0.99% interest and you can pay it off in 3 months time. This works out about a few dollars interest over 3 months, which is much cheaper to choose 3 easy payment option which cost you $50 to set up.
