Title: Sugarless Strawberry Jam with Photo
Post by: mickeydownunder on September 25, 2013, 02:08:39 am
G'day! This is my first official post other than introducing myself.

I am now also officially a Thermomix owner and awaiting delivery! Exciting as can be!

We are all inspired by what we read and see...no recipe is really an original...

...found one I liked online and adapted (no pecin/jam setta) for my particular food lifestyle...

DH said it was GREAT...him also enjoying was a bonus too...

Look forward to heaps more postings, sharing, asking questions, commenting on other people's posts from me! :)

Maybe you could post the quantities and method so other people could try your recipe MDO. :)

Looks interesting.  We all like recipes that use as little additives as possible.

Thank you Cornish Cream for being patient and understanding with me, seeing this is my first official post too!

Thanks achookwoman....

For people's info, I am also known as mickeydownunder in the food world worldwide, Joanna and FANG!  ;)

My food lifestyle revolves around limiting sugar and I use Xlear Naturally Sweet Xylitol, but people can substitute sugar.

If making my recipe sugarless, please make sure the Xylitol product you are using is certified too as not all products and companies world wide provide the highest quality product and not all companies are the same too!

Joanna’s Sugarless Strawberry Jam

1 pint (2 cups) strawberries, tips cut
350 grams Xlear Naturally Sweet Xylitol (feel free to substitute sugar)
1 teaspoon Pure Tahitian Vanilla Powder (1/2 teaspoon = 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or essence)
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Place all ingredients in Thermomix bowl.

Time = 30 minutes, Temperature = 100C, Speed 1.

Once the “unique sounding bell” goes off, reset to 40 minutes, Varoma Temperature, Speed 1.

This step, based on my research, “thickens” the jam!

Did you know most commercial brands of pectin (also known as jamsetta) contain about 90% sugar and are 10% pectin?

Health food stores sell 100% pectin; why not go without if you can I say!

Pour jam into sterilized jar, turning upside down until cool; place upside down in refrigerator; leave to set overnight!

Hope for my first post, I did okay!

Cheers! Joanne
