This is my last day without having a Thermomix!!!
« on: June 18, 2012, 05:34:32 am »
YAY  :) :) :) :)  My consultant has it and is bringing it over tomorrow.  I'm not half excited!!

Now I just need to work out what I'll cook first ... looks like no work will get done tomorrow - the benefits of working from home.

So, what's a good first dinner and desert recipe that will impress the family - something foolproof that I can cook totally in the bowl.

Now you'll be getting the "help - what did I do wrong" questions from me from now on :)

WooHoo Craftymum, how exciting. Risotto always seems to impress.

Yay CraftyMum! I got mine on Saturday, so I feel your excitement! I'm cooking the Bangers & Mash in Tasty Onion Gravy tonight, which is an all in one meal. My first thermomix dinner! From the feedback on the thread it should be successful. As long as I don't make a silly mistake... Lol. I'm thinking of making custard for dessert, too.

Congratulations and enjoy your thermie! It's hard waiting for it, isn't it? I would do something like creamy garlic prawn risotto and definitely custard for dessert. If you're feeling adventurous and you want to try out your Varoma straight away you could do Baf's all in one chicken dish or the steamed salmon dinner. The  creamy tomato and salami  fettucine recipe  from the EDC is always a successful one. There's so many good recipes to choose from- at first you want something simpler eg risotto to impress and then work your way up to more involved dishes once you get a feel for all of the functions.

Risotto. Any risotto. Just remember it looks underdone but it is done after resting.

Day One = success!!! So happy :)

I made the vege stock first, then basil pesto, lemon butter, pasta sauce and a bacon risotto for dinner. Everyone loved it all - yay! And then chocolate custard (which set like a pudding) for dessert. The kids loved it with strawberries and whipped cream. Now onto some yoghurt.

It's looking good so far. Can't wait to get my oven fixed so I can do some of the baking recipes.

...and it looks like my yoghurt has worked too :)  I want to try the Yoghurt cheese balls today, and some pear paste. Maybe some soup for lunch and lasagne for dinner.  Loving it so far :)  So glad I found this forum - there is a wealth of knowledge here and it's good to know there's so much help out there!
