Introduce Yourself / Re: Which recipe book is best for a newbie??
« on: July 10, 2012, 11:18:09 am »
While I was waiting for my TM to arrive I borrowed about five books from a friend. To be perfectly honest I am glad I didn't buy any of them! There was not much in them that I really wanted to make.  I have found the forum and the Internet far more helpful. I really like the EDc cookbook and am already starting to add my own notes as I tweak each recipe to suit. I have only had my TM three weeks so still so much to learn. I got another book free with my purchase and same with that one I would only make one or two things from it.  I would personally recommend sticking with the EDC trying all those receives and tweaking to suit your own tastes then happy searching on the Internet.

Chit Chat / Re: New convection microwave - peoples opinions please
« on: July 10, 2012, 05:05:31 am »
Hi I have the Miele convection microwave which can be used as second oven.  Cuts down on baking time and adds browning to regular microwave recipes. Have it built in to kitchen not sure if it comes in a bench top version.

hi Jimbo another newbie from Perth here too. I have had mine almost two weeks and used everyday. My second bowl and blade set arrived in the post today and I will certainly be putting it to use.  I am working my way through various books and forums and love everything I have made so far. Enjoy your TM.😄

Chit Chat / Re: Silicone IKEA pastry mat
« on: July 02, 2012, 09:04:07 am »
Hi
I have the IKEA silicon mat it costs $14.99 and comes with a small cutter it is just a wee bit smaller than the TM mat. I share your pain as I hate IKEA too, but I can say that the mat is great.

Bread / Mediterranean Loaf
« on: July 01, 2012, 12:38:11 pm »
I have had success making bread in TMX since owning one for two weeks now.  I made the best loaf ever today. It is on the thermovixens.com  website. I put marinated feta sum-dried tomatoes basil and spinach in the middle as well as some Parmesan .  I have found that it is best to put the loaf  back in the oven just on the wire rack for a few more minutes so the bottom firms up, tends to go soggy if left in the tin.  I have no idea how to insert a link or even if it is allowed, but the bread is delicious!

Introduce Yourself / Re: I'm New

4 days having TM and used three times at least each day.  Today I made the Thai chicken and basil dish from the entertaining with Nico booklet,  it was so yummy.  I made rhubarb and apple crumble, hommus and sticky date pudding which was a hit so light and tasty.  Have got the ingredients for bolognaise sauce tomorrow but having read the forum it sounds as though mincing your own meat is a bit time consuming with the cleanup so I have already got the mince.  unfortunaly I have to go to work tomorrow, I just want to stay home and play with TM😄

I checked with my consultant and there is no way to turn off or down the loud alarm!  I also have a second bowl coming soon part of having demo june so I am lucky to only pay half.  Have made bread today with fruit in but not sweet enough for my liking will try again.

Hi I want to try  fruit bread.it says inEDC you can add fruitin last few seconds of kneading, doesn't say anything about adding sugar, does anyone know how much sugar I would add and when or is the fruit sweet enough already?

Day 2 of owning TM got in from work and made spicy cous cous from forum recipe, basic bread with the buckwheat and lemon custard and of course porridge this morning.  One thing I would like to know, is can the loud alarm be silenced ?

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Re: Spatula
« on: June 21, 2012, 03:25:39 pm »
I have a supply of inexpensive Ikea silicon spatulas that I will use instead as I don't want to ruin my TM spatula so soon!  I guess we are all individual.  Any other newbies with a chewed up spatula?!!

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Spatula
« on: June 21, 2012, 02:12:14 pm »
As a new owner I am wondering if I am using the spatula the right way. I have only used the TMX a couple of times and the Spatula is looking a bit chewed!  I hope the little bits of plastic are not in my food?  I don't think it helps that I am left handed.  Any tips on this one? Any left handlers also find the spatula awkward or getting mashed up?

I have a Neff induction cooktop that is absolutely wonderful and a Miele oven and Miele steam micro and oven combo much easier to clean than the large freestanding deLonghi dual fuel I had before. Day 2 of owning TMX !! For me, looks like I won't be using my lovely oven so much.

Chit Chat / Re: Preserving jars
« on: June 20, 2012, 03:34:36 pm »
The name of the company is Silverlock they are in Canning Vale and sell all sorts of packaging containers and jars a comprehensive list of all products on the website.  it is good to go and choose your jars but I personally like the mail order saves so much time.
