Hi Veronique, welcome to our forum. It would be great to be able to speak more than one language and be able to access the forums from other countries.  There are interesting recipes coming out now from forum members overseas and we look forward to any that you may contribute if and when you have the time.  Are you finding the latest model much better than the previous one?

Josie Pinto's Osso Bucco

Made this today with a couple of changes to replicate the recipe I generally use.
Added carrot and celery to the sauce ingredients (chopped with the onion and garlic) and omitted the herbs in the sauce as I had put enough in the marinade.  Cooked 1 hour then rested the meat and sauce in the thermosaver whilst I made mashed potatoes and steamed carrots and spinach.

DH says it is not as nice as mine which is usually cooked in the slow cooker or oven and I was just wondering if it was the herbs which prompted this comment as I don't use any herbs in my recipe.  My sauce is a much deeper, richer colour whereas this one was still very tomatoey looking. Josie's picture looks like a brown sauce so don't know why mine was still very red. Had 600mls of the tomato sauce left over so will freeze it and add to mince for a lasagne later.

Ease of making 4.5/5
Taste 4/5

I apologize for not commenting more often but I sometimes difficult to understand your dialogue!
Just understand that they are having fun and I am very happy anyway!
I went to look at the Dicionary the meaning of Whopping but didnīt find anything what could explain it in the way you are talking about it! ;D ;D ;D ;D
bye isi
Glad you are having fun isi but hope Katya's explanation allows you to understand why we all found it so funny.  I still crack up everytime I read it (which is often).  Reminds me of my dear mum whose hearing has never been the best.  At family gatherings when everyone was still sitting around the table, she would always get up and start the dishes and tell us to stay where we were (hard to do though).  We would laugh at something that was said and she would laugh as well so I presumed she could hear what was said.  I went over one time to start helping her and commented on whatever it was that had made us all laugh.  She told me she didn't know what we were laughing about but us laughing made her laugh.  Poor Mum, great in one-to-one conversations but gets lost in a crowd.

Recipe Requests / Re: Coconut oil

Thanks, Tenina.  I think I was being blind when I went to your blog, as I couldn't see the recipes which used coconut oil.  Which ones are they, please?  (It's probably 'cos I got distracted by the fudge  :-)) )
The 2 recipes Tenina refers to CarolineW are the Nutty caramel popcorn with pretzels and chocolate & the Coconut banana fritters are fried in it.

Condiments and Sauces / Re: PIZZA SAUCE
« on: January 17, 2010, 01:07:44 am »
Your pictures are lovely isi.  This one reminds me that I haven't cooked pizzas for months now - so many new recipes to try. I woke at 1.30am the other morning, wide awake so got out all my print outs of TMX recipes and others which need to be converted and sat in bed until 3.45am sorting through and picking out things I want to make over the next couple of months. Now I just go to that new file and choose something to try unless I am in a hurry, then I do something from my TMX recipe folder which I've done before.

These look great isi, can understand how they impressed the kids - what child wouldn't like these  ;) ;)  The word gem had me beat too. Like Chookie I guessed 'sweet eggs' to be custard too as it would be a perfect filling for this little morsels.

Hi Andrew, welcome to the forum.  So she finally wore you down and you bought a TMX to get her off your back aye?  You won't regret it and Kathryn is only a phone call away when you need her help or just come on here to the forum and ask us if you need help.  I have plenty of leftovers with just the 2 of us so you are going to have heaps if you do whole recipes - would you call yourself a good cook?  You will be by the time you do a few recipes from the forum and get the hang of it.  Good luck and let us know what you are cooking won't you?

Great ideaCathy79. Did you notice how much darker isi's was to JulieO's (mine looked like JulieO's) so if you could get one batch of each colour, the contrast would be fairly marked.   Or make one layer a plain vanilla flavoured 'cream', leaving out either the coffee or the chocolate.  Or (oh the possibilities are endless) use white chocolate in one batch and dark choc in the other.
