Title: Tenina's Golden Fish Curry
Post by: gertbysea on July 01, 2014, 05:26:10 am
Oh boy this is one of the best curries ever. light zesty and easy. I bought cheap ling from Woolies. I had her search for thick pieces and bought 2 chunky ones. Held together nicely and it really is a very quick different curry.  Chicken would work as well. Trust me it is good. Let me know if you like it.  Be good with prawns with a bit less cooking.

cookie1 - We had this last night and really loved it. I used half prawns and half fish. I think my fish wasn't in large enough chunks as some of it mushed up. The taste is really good and I'll be making it again. Thanks Gert.

CC asked if shrimp paste would work - Gert's reply - that's what I used, just a bit less.

It looks tasty Gert. What sort of fish did you use please?  I will have to start buying some seeing we didn't get away to catch any.  :-\

I will make this again and again.  Chicken would work as well. Trust me it is good. Let me know if you like it.  Be good with prawns with a bit less cooking.

I chose a really thick piece of Ling. Yes the recipe would be good for prawns or chicken I think.

It was quite a different curry  from my usual. I am sorry I waited  so long to make this as my Dh has been "at me" to make it for some time.

Glad you liked it.

Yes JulieO it is a bit different and zingy and a great colour. I will use chicken next time for a change.

Plan to use chicken next time too as it is much cheaper. The fish and prawns I used (500g altogether) was just over $25. No wonder I don't buy fresh fish very often.  :-\

I got the Ling fromWoolies where I would normally never buy fish but it was only $15 a kilo and was fine for the curry.

Gert do you think shrimp paste would work instead of the dried shrimp?

Yum! Looks like a northern Malaysian curry from the ingredients used. Or Thai.

Thanks for the link, Gert 😄

Look great Gert.  On my cooking list when I get home.  Like the fact that you can use prawns or chicken as well. Thanks for the link.

I made this for dinner tonight as Skinless Cod Loin was half price at the supermarket today.A beautiful flavour and we all loved it but my fish disintegrated when cooking :-)) I think I need to use the Butterfly in future when cooking fish. :-\
I used 10g of shrimp paste instead of dried shrimp.
Thanks Gert for bringing Tenina's recipe to our attention ;D
