I tried this using store bought fresh orange juice, but the water made it, well, watery... So here's my tweaked recipe:
500g Fresh orange juice 1 Large egg white 1 tsp Vanilla extract 70g Sugar 400g Ice
Combine all of the ingredients in the Thermomix and blend on speed 10 for 15 seconds.
Serve immediately as the drink separates quickly. I serve in a tall cocktail glass with a mixing stick or an oversized straw. Very yummy.

... then had the Caramel Chomeur from the Thermomix site ...
Funny, I always thought this was a typically French Canadian recipe, almost slang even. Weird to see it elsewhere! Today there was a huge warehouse sale at a local kitchen cookware store, so I got myself loads of kitchen gadgets, some I'm not even sure what they do!! I also had impromtu lunch guests, so I made them some pasta alla carbonara with some home made bread, and strawberry sorbet for dessert. They were impressed.

Mrspock, try the honey soy chicken wings, they are fantastic, nobody can resist them! And I mean nobody!
Sounds yummy, but unprepared chicken wings are not readily available here, I don't think. Although I may be mistaken; I've discovered loads of new products since I've had my TMX! I'll take a look next time I'm at the grocery store. Thanks for the tip I love this thread: It's one thing to read a recipe, but having someone say it's their favorite gives it much more appeal!

Oh dear, have just made the pork mignon, and it was not a success! Must have been my improvisation of english mustard, I added wholegrain nutty mustard instead! They are eating it, bless them, but won't be repeating today! I bought the vermouth, and apart from the mustard every thing else I did the same as the recipe. Oh can only get white normal mushrooms. The meat wasn't cooked properly after 15 mins, nor after 20, so it was 25 mins. The pork was quite chewy, maybe it was because it wasn't thin enough. Not too sure what I have done wrong! Shame! Was really looking forward it!!!
That's really too bad, bron Last night at the grocery store I almost picked up the wholegrain mustard because I couldn't find the hot mustard, but I finally found it in another section of the store. Did the sauce taste terrible too??

[... the very first thing I did when we moved in was to put in a slow-combustion wood stove! We use it in the winter and it usually burns from late April/May until Septemberish. I do most winter cooking on it and love everything about it - except the mess from wood and ash!!
I don't know if you have this over there, but I use recycled logs made out of compressed sawdust. They heat 35% more than regular logs per volume, and make virtually no ash. They also release 58% less polluting particles in the air, so all around good stuff.

From Vorwerks prospective I can understand that they would have a problem with this due to copyright etc. They take the time to put these books together to sell to customers so would be justifiably upset if they were to find these recipes posted. It defeats the purpose of publishing the books. Valid point of course. However, someone who only speak English will never buy a German cookbook, so I don't feel we're hurting Vorwerks' revenues too much in translating a few local recipes. Also for us in America where the Thermomix has not yet taken off, it's nearly impossible to get any cookbooks, unless we're ready to pay ridiculous amounts of money in shipping fees from Australia. After paying enough money to buy a good used car for my TMX, I don't feel too guilty about grabbing a few recipes off the Net. But I agree: recipes from forum users are usually much better anyways I think that it is not a big part of their income stream, and if the recipes are more readily available and more people try and recommend the recipes and, subsequently the machine, then they would make more money ?? Exactly!

Judy, why don't you post the make and model, if you have it? We can do a bit of research on the Net to see if anyone else has that problem...

Embarassingly, I don't think I'd done 10 different recipes yet, so here's my Top X so far: 1. Mushroom Risotto 2. Cranberry-Orange Bread3. Pizza dough 4. Strawberry Sorbet 5. French Baguettes (bread again!) 6. Pasta alla carbonaraI've done a few others that didn't wow me, but not all that many.

i just made risotto for lunch and found 2 things: 1. the temp for risotto is 100'c not varoma, and 2. if you put in your own ingredients you'll probably end up with too much and then you get a mush at the bottom and not cooked at the top sigh LOL
not sure if either of those things will help...
I haven't yet dared to modify recipes too much, but what I would do is take a proven recipe, and replace the original ingredients with the exact same quantities of your own ingredients. Does that make any sense? I'm sure I'll get the chance to try the same experience again: I just love that risotto I'll report back on how it behaves. Maybe this was just a fluke...

Intrepidtrier, if you're using Internet Explorer, go in Tools/Internet Options/General TAB/Temporary Internet Files/Settings and make you you have "Check for newer versions of the stored pages: Every visit to the page".

Hello and welcome, Bel! I'm guessing from the lack of questions that North Qld is in Australia?
