Just wondering if anyone would like to send a card or postcard to my friends granddaughter Ella who is in the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, this little 5 year old has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, had been in remission for 13 month sadly it has reared its ugly head again, they have had to move from Hobart to Melbourne last week for a minimum of 6 months for special treatment that they can’t receive in Hobart ,Ella’s lovely mother Kerryn, lost her husband in 2008 and 10 months later Ella was diagnosed with Leukaemia it’s just not fair.
A face book page has been set up if you would like to like it; it’s called Ella’s Journey
www.facebook.com/ellavdhjourney?ref=stream
If you would like to send anything over (Ella loves receiving mail!)
Please pm me for the address.
Mods please remove if this is not allowed; I just want to do something for this family

On Boxing Day Ella was taken back to hospital as she become quite unwell, they still have a room at Ronald macdonald house, as mum and gran take turns at the hospital at night.
I have copied Kerryn's last post from FB with there permission.
Wow, what a crazy few days it’s been! Ella’s very up and down at the moment. The biggest complaint at the moment is tummy aches – they come on thick and fast and she requires pain relief quickly to help relieve the pain. Her legs are ok at the moment, but as she had Vincristine (chemo) yesterday, I assume those pains will be back soon. She’s back on steroids this week for 5 days. Again, we wait for monster Ella to make her appearance. Those who did this journey with us last time will remember just how tough it was with Dex and Ella’s behaviour/moods. So, for those who are new on this journey, imagine a 22 year old male body building inside a 5 year old little girls’ body. It’s intense. She can go from 0-100 in seconds and has absolutely no control over it at all. It’s tough on her and it’s tough on us watching her go through that.
Ella’s platelets are low again today so she’s having another transfusion. Her heart rate lowered over night, so she was hooked up to an ECG to check her heart. Results showed normal function, but confirmed bradycardia. Drs have said they aren’t concerned and think that it could be a reaction from the steroids.
When brushing Ella’s hair this morning and significant amount of hair came out. Upset me a little. I knew it would happen again, but as much as you mentally prepare yourself, as you brush out strand after stand it really pulls at the heart strings. Last time we shaved her hair off once it got too thin, but this time I’ll follow Ella’s lead. If she wants us to cut it off, we will, otherwise we’ll let it take it’s course. Our cute little baldy will be back once again.
Hanging out for these 5 weeks to be over (3 more to go!) so we know exactly which path we will be taking. I’m such a planner and really really hate the unknown. Very quickly learning that each cancer patient has their own path that they will follow – no two patients, no matter how identical in diagnosis, will follow the same course of action....and that’s tough.

Wishing Ella and her family all the best and sending big hugs :)

It's so nice to see the youngsters getting involved in this and I'm sure Ella is enjoying receiving all these cards from them.
It's a great thing to teach our young ones - take time out to do something to cheer up those not so lucky as us.
Another beautiful name, I love Ella too.

Sorry I just saw this now, Ella just loves receiving mail, the family is very appreciative of all the cards and presents that you all have sent.
Treatment is going to plan, she had another dose of chemo this week, they were worried about her kidneys and thought they might have to change treatments, her kidneys functions are improving tonight. Thankfully.
her hair started fulling out in big chunks and asked for it to be cut off, smiled the hole way through her hair cut, mum didn't.
