Chit Chat / Re: Does anyone else have?
« on: December 08, 2010, 12:30:21 am »
I even write in my cookbooks. I hate people writing in books but to me it's ok when it's a cooking book.

Judy the same thing happened to me, I  do try to be careful of it now.

I can understand exactly how you feel. I saw the machine in action in August or September and DH said we had to have one. It wasn't at a demo. I thought about it for a long time as being retired I felt it was a lot of money to spend. Then in November the lady that had shown me hers rang and stirred me up. I then went ahead with the purchase. Even for about 2 weeks after buying the machine I kept thinking I have to use this-it cost so much. By then I was hooked. I had discovered this forum just before it was delivered and still love it 2 years later.

It's sat fairly idle for a couple of days as I have been busy. It will make up for it as soon as I'm home for a few days.

I don't think you will regret the decision if you buy.

Introduce Yourself / Re: please convince me, I'm just not sure!!!

Hi not sure yet. This is a good place to ask lots of questions. Of course we all love our machines.  I can understand your hesitance in spending so much money, I felt the same. Do you have things like a rice cooker, blender and mixer?
The TMX would be very handy in that you could have things cooking and stirring when you are busy with the children. It is very easy to make things quickly, almost on demand.
I now make all our bread, icecream and sauces. I am at home and have the time to do this.
The varoma will cook meat for you but not like a roast. It will steam meat while you have vegies cooking in the bowl and varoma. Then it is very easy to make a sauce with the steaming liquid.
Cakes and biscuits can be made from scratch and the children get no nasties.
Please keep asking questions until you feel you can make your yes or no clear to yourself.

Recipe Requests / Re: Red and Green Shortbread recipe - email please?

Could you add an egg to the shortbread to bind it together? I know of a friend of a friend who had massive troubles with the Christmas shortbread not binding, so you aren't the only one.

Judy your dessert sounds delicious.

Ditto here MJ and Chelsea. If I'm feeling a bit flat re TMX all I need is half an hour on here and I see photos of beautiful food or delicious sounding recipes and I'm inspired. If I have a problem someone on here has good advice for me.
I really believe that this forum has kept my love for the TMX firmly in place.

Oops. Sorry VHJ I have just included the Varoma bread too. I love it as we can sometimes run out if we're out on the Nullabor etc. If it's a cool morning it's fun to have it for morning tea too.

Welcome Sckrenki. When you start converting your own recipes it's a good idea to find something similar in one of the TMX books to help you with the conversion. Happy thermomixing.

Glad you enjoyed the steamed puddings Nicola 1968. Did you have them with custard?

Welcome JenniCB. My machine is a male too (Termite). He does very well in the kitchen and I'm sure is exhausted at the end of every day.
What sort of things do you enjoy making in your TMX?

Welcome Lio and congratulations on your English. Imagine owning a TMX for 30 years. I'm sure you can do some amazing things with it. I've had mine for just 2 years and still love it and am surprised at the things it can do.

Welcome Newmum. What a wonderful idea to buy a TMX, I'm sure it will make life so much easier with a new baby.

I love Singapore.  I look forward to some new Asian recipes from you.
