Chit Chat / Re: Vacuum Sealing for freezing, cooking and refridgeration
« on: October 09, 2013, 04:56:52 am »
Hi, I have been reading with interest your vacuum sealing subject. Could I  suggest a site called  " idemo.com.au " He has a few different type of sealing items on his site. I have the sealing lids and they are very good. I also have the bags wich you can reuse time and time again. You can seal them with a hand pump or a small electrical device wich he also sells. I have no affiliation with this site. Frans

Hi Judy, thank you for your kind words. Here is a Filipino recipe that I have made a few times now and really enjoy .This is there national dish
sort of. there are many different recipes on the net. You can add whatever you prefere. there are also pork recipes or a combination of both chicken and pork. the base is soy and vinegar.
CHICKEN ADOBO:
one chicken cut up into serving pieces or chicken pieces
1/2 cup soy
3/4 cup white vinegar
Garlick as much as you would like, suggestion is one or two heads
bay leaves
peppercorns up to you.
salt to taste, careful here because of the soy.
procedure:
1/ place chicken, soy, vinegar, garlick, bay leaves and peppercorns in the pot and bring to the boil.
reduce the heat and simmer 30 min. you may want to add some water.
remove the chicken and slowly fry in a separate pot IE frying pan.
let the sauce in the pot boil until reduced by half. give and take.
return the chicken to the sauce ad season according to you liking. and serve. I like it with potatoes ,you may prefere rice and veggies.
you may be able to adapt to the thermomix I have not done it yet. Frans

Hi Judy I had the same problem yesterday ,i spilled some liquid over the temp.buttons. The display was all over the place. My remedy was to put it in the sun for an hour or so and that did the trick. It dried itself out. Highly geared electronics and moisture do not mix. It is working again with no problems at all. But it's good hear that you are back on track again. Frans

Hi, I have one of these and like it a lot. You can only use dry food in it like fish fingers, chips of course, croquettes, chicken legs, pork fillets. The temperature goes form 80 to 200 degrees c. the timer goes from 1 min to 30 min. I have shown the unit to friends of mine and subsequently sold 3 units. I can recommend it . Frans

May I suggest the dreampot It is sold from Queensland they come in 3 different sizes 3 ltr,5 ltr and 6 ltr. They are not cheap but work extremely well. I have the 3 ltr and the 6ltr. and i am very happy with them. Basically they are passive cookers. You can take them to the beach on a boat anywhere. They cook whilst you travel or keep cold as well. Look it up on the net you will get all the info. Frans.

Hi Jomart I would suggest PORK ADOBO you can find on the net it is a very tasty dish I have made it several times. Chicken in tomato sauce called FRITADA I never cooked this myself but it looks good from the book that I have here in front of me. The book is called FILIPINO home style dishes. Delicious meals in minutes. If you want some more dishes let me know I have a few Filipino cook books. Frans

Hi my name is Frans and live in Gippsland, Raymond island. I have a Thermomix as well. You were discussing Miele steam ovens I came across a Sharp steam oven, model is ax1500js and looks pretty good to me. According to Choice mag. its very good value for money. Also Janelle Bloom from Ready steady cook tv program does a demonstration on the net. It is priced @ $1649 cheapest was $1338. It has a Built in Microwave, convection and steam capabilities. By the way I love my Thermomomix. Hope this helps a bit for your search for another perfect gadget in the kitchen. Frans.
