I have been waiting for a while to do this one - my kids absolute favourite dinner of all time - I wanted to get it right - have done it 4 or 5 times but hadnt quite got it right yet.

scottymag - it was fantastic! I would suggest though that less cream would be better. It wasn't thick enough so I added 2 teasp cornflour but less cream may mean it thickens more. I would leave the thermo cup off to help it thicken but apart from that it was the best I've made, very fussy hubby also enthusiastic as was daughter who tried the leftovers.
cookie - We had this and although we enjoyed it, next time I think I'll add some chilli and spinach. Thanks for the recipe auds.

So are you saying you still haven't got it right Auds or have you posted the recipe because you finally did get it right?
-
JD hopefully its right !! ;D finally it tastes like I want it to :)
-
Good, glad you finally got it right - you were certainly persistent ;D
-
Will definitely have to give this a go.
Sounds yummy. Thanks Auds.

Do you think to make a healthier version I could use lite carnation milk and cornflour instead of cream. :)
-
absolutely ;D Although it doesnt taste quite the same as I have done it before too

What are 'bacon bits' - cubes of bacon ?
-
Judy I think you can buy bacon bits at the supermarket deli. I'm not sure as I've never done it. I'll use chopped up bacon for this one, it looks good for a quick Sunday night meal.
-
That's what I thought Cookie but I have also seen artificial bacon bits in jars in the herb/spice section.

You can buy bacon pieces at the deli section of the supermarket or packets of them where they have the packets of ham etc. I am making this again tonight ;D
I tried with 300ml of cream which was the original recipe but it was a bit dry
-
Originally this recipe was only 500g chicken but thats not enough to feed my lot. The cream was 300ml.
I added the extra 100ml of cream to compensate for the chicken. I tried it tonight with 750g chicken and 300ml cream - was excellent.
I have edited the recipe to read 300ml cream
thanks for the input ;)

We had this tonight and although we enjoyed it next time I think I'll add some chilli and spinach. Thanks for the recipe auds.
