Ha ha !! You are all so kind and I'm glad we're all laughing now...    ;D let's hope it stays that way. I spoke to the salmon people today and asked to 'beef up' the salmon prizes for the Aussies, so no worries, you'll get a bit more than a morsel. Maybe enough for the cat AND yourselves, though I wouldn't um... 'waste' this on the cats...  ;) They do sell this salmon to Nassau, so they assured me it will arrive in good shape, though Australia is not as far as the space station, it almost feels that far to me, sitting here almost a full day behind you on the calendar.

Cheers,
TMB

The salmon is now well on its merry way, and it will be tired from its long flight across the sea, so ladies, maybe let it rest a while before devouring it!  ;)

Seriously though, I'll be interested to know how long it takes to get there - those salmon wings are so tiny, after all.

Warm Thermohugs to you all,

Bon Appetit!

Salmon wings indeed! I was sitting in a restaurant in Port Douglas when a group of American tourists arrived. They were very interested in my plate of deep fried Barramundi wings. I carefully described the dish to them and they expressed surprise that Barramundi could actually fly. Yes indeed I said. We have some very strange critters in Australia.

Seeing as your salmon wings are flying they should be here soon. I'll keep everyone posted.  What a pity Judy we won't be able to share them. NOT :-*

My DH was jealous of your barra wings Gretchen. When we go fishing he always has the wings off the snapper and baldchin or cod we catch. I'm afraid I don't really like picking the meat out from the bones.

Oh my Buddha everyone. The salmon arrived today.  Maple Glazed Wild smoked Salmon and a huge packet of Wild Smoked Sockeye Salmon. I am in piggy heaven.

Sorry everyone who can't make it to Cairns by the weekend as I will be serving it  with a good wine. I  wonder if I can find a  really good Tasmanian Sparkling Wine up here in the deep north.

This is a very special food and deserves some respect .

Cheers,
Gretchen

Wonderful news Gretchen. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. Enjoy every single mouthful of it. I wonder if Judy has hers yet?

No, I haven't got mine yet folks. Adelaide must be further away from Canada than Cairns is ;) ;) ;)

Happy to report the arrival today of my package of salmon from Canada. Was out all day but found the package at the front door when we arrived home tonight. Now I can relax and not wonder where it is.  Still too cold here in Adelaide to have it just yet but we have 27o forecast for next Tuesday so one package will be used then.  Going to check out the website for the slices to see what else I can do with them apart from on a cracker.  Feel so special receiving such an exquisite prize, thanks Helene so much.  :-* :-*

great Judy, happy to hear this. (where is the emoticon for "doing the happy dance?)

Personally, I wouldn't put that salmon on a cracker. Straight on the tongue is how I'd go!

Anyhow, I don't blame you for wanting to stretch it out, there is precious little in those wee packages. Last week-end I did some nice fat Wild Sockeye Salmon steaks in the Varoma. Very interesting for me, the Varoma Virgin but everyone agreed they were outstandingly tasty. I took some photos, and then as I was putting them on the blog last night I noticed a new button I'd never seen before.... it said "make a movie" and right beside it there was another button that saidl "upload to youtube"... so I just had to try that out. (a new button on my computer? that's almost like waving a red flag in front of a bull!)  ;D

You can see my salmon experiment (and my first youtubing experiment) here:
