Baked Egg Custard Tart
« on: August 24, 2011, 10:26:23 am »
Hi all.

I'm wanting to make a baked egg custard tart, the kind that you bake and then sprinkle nutmeg over and you eat it cold.

I've had my machine for about 48 hours so I don't think I'm going to be too proficient in convering an existing receipe yet.

Any help would be appreciated.

Chrissa, I couldn't find one in any of my books or on the various websites but there is this lemon one that perhaps you could follow and adjust for your needs.

Thanks for going to so much trouble Judy, I really appreciate it.

I'll give it a try by leaving out the lemon and then I probably should reduce the sugar as well.

I might just have to make the lemon tart as well !!

Thanks again

That's quite OK Chrissa.  Your challenge will be to come up with an ordinary custard tart then you can post the recipe on the forum for everyone to use  ;D ;D

I don't know how to link but there is a custard tart recipe in the dessert section, it's using bought pastry cases though. You could follow the egg custard recipe has nutmeg sprinkled on top. Is that what you are looking for? Search custard tart when you are in the desserts

These things would be so much easier to find if they called them their proper name  :-))

In South Africa Milk Tarts are everywhere!!!!   They are not the same as the custard tarts that I know here is Australia but very similar.  The ones here are very yellow but in Africa I have only found them to be the colour of milk - hence the name!!!!
